Almost certainly a bad battery. Put a voltmeter on the battery and check it while trying to start the bike. If it drops to less than 10v the battery is dead.

Check fuel pump is working(remove seat and tank)Although your bike has carbs, they are fed by a fuel pump(under seat and tank)
if there is no fuel getting pumped when you are cranking over, replace fuel pump relay(cheapest option)If still no joy your fuel pump is u/s.although hondas have a seperate small vacume type hose running off the back of the pump, any pump off a kawasaki zx7/zx9 will do the job(they are all made by the same firm)

If the seal has been cracked by the cold weather it should be replaced. For someone mechanicly inclined and with the proper tools this is not a hard job. For the novice it can be one of those times you could have sent it to the shop and spent less time and money, and gotten better results....
As to a seal conditioner, the seals today are generally made of synthetic material. No "conditioner" will work. If the seal is made of rubber you have a 90% chance that a product called 'MARVEL MYSTERY OIL' will solve the problem. This prouduct was created in 1917 and marketed in 1923. Google the product name for more hystory and uses today. Basicly, the oil causes rubber to swell. This tightens seals and thus fixes the problem. Most any good auto parts store has this stuff on the shelf. By the way, if the bike was purchased new, wouldn't this be a warranty repair?

Definatly a good tune up would help, but it also sounds as if you may have a bad stator. I would check the voltage at the battery and see if it goes up and down when accelorating.

heyii there is a shaft coming ut of the engine crank that connects to your transmission shaft which drives your gears and hence wheels.. so your 2nd gear must have worn out and for that reason the gear isn't working well.. get your gear box opened and check the gear.. A dead short to earth. One a bike this is nearly always a wire that has chaffed through to the frame due to vibration, or a wire that has been pinched under the seat or tank.

Wow, this is a known fault!

Solved it! With some brainstorming and a circuit diagram we traced the possible wire that could be causing the short out and traced a wire that had melted electircal tape from over heating back to the ignition/starter and noticed that the steering column had a worn down spot on it. When the steering Was changed the wire would rub the column and this caused the short. she is up and running beautifully now though! Thanks for the help/support guys.

Might try removing or disconnecting the alarm to see if you have tripped an anti-theft circuit on the bike. If you have then you'll need to refer to your owner manual or local Honda dealer.
If the bike works fine without the alarm then I would reset the alarm. I found the manual on Google pretty quickly

Hi, Dean and the usual suspects are:
1. Fuel tank empty.
2. The fuel tank has old dead gas.
3. Fuel tank bottom contaminated with ethanol sludge, dirt, water, rust, etc.
4. Fuel supply valve/petcock turned off.
5. Fouled spark plugs.
6. Engine flooded as a result of overuse of the enrichner.
7. Vacuum hose to the fuel supply valve/petcock disconnected, broken, cracked, or pinched.
8. Fuel valve/petcock or filter clogged.
9. Fuel line to carburetor or throttle body pinched, kinked or blocked.
10. Carburetor float stuck.
11. Fuel injectors clogged.
12. Fuel injectors stuck open.
13. Severely discharged or a damaged battery should have 12.5 volts or more and be able to pass a proper "LOAD" test if necessary, you may have a cursory reading of 12.5 volts or more but little or zero amperage the battery is faulty and must be replaced, AGM batteries fail in this scenario more so than lead acid batteries.
14. Check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
15. Loose or corroded wire connection at the coil or plug between ignition sensor and ECM module.
16. Spark plug cables in bad condition and shorting check for spark leakage in the dark, cable connections loose, or connected to the wrong cylinders.
17. Ignition timing incorrect due to a faulty ignition coil, ignition module or MAP, CMP, CKP, O2, TPS, ETP, IAC sensors.
18. Faulty neutral, clutch lever, or kickstand safety switch.
19. Faulty fuel pump or fuse or relay.
20. A stuck bent or burnt valve.
21. Tilt sensor needs a reset.
22. Security system not disarming alarm needs a reset.
23. Check for engine trouble codes.
