There was a facelift model in 1996 so the fairings are slightly at the front as different as Honda came up with the fox/tiger eye headlights.
Other than that, they look very similar including the tank. The support bracket which holds the top fairing on might be different.
If you're buying these parts off the internet, I'd contact your local Honda dealer first as you could be stuck with these parts if they don't fit.

Sounds like it's spun a bearing
Not an easy fix motor out and strip down to remove crank.
and change bearings?
unless you know what your doing Should go to shop?

that is way too much slack unless the drive chain is slack. hold the drive chain tight and try again. any more than about 10 degrees would be too much

check your rotor in distributioncap,it will be the wrong one.open the cap,
let someone start the car 3 sec and you see whits way the rotor turn.
then check manuel or garage whits you need.
