What do I check
Hello there ... Well you got me confused ... What exactly do you mean by saying back firing ? If you hear some noises from the exhaust and seeing flames now and then you must first check your carburetor . There might be something inside blocking the way , then you must look at the carburators neck ... Check for cuts or possible air loss same with the air pump... After that you can check the exhausts for any possible holes on the front neck or somewhere after the neck ...is the sound of the bike any different ? Check the chain also you could need some tighten if that's the back firing you mean ... I hope I helped !!!!
No power to fuel pump or lights
check your battery connections an make sure the terminals are clean an tight I would check the battery with a meter an then check the connections at the solenoid from there the power will run up to the ignition switch there may be a small fuse panel check your fuses as well start with the simple things that are cost free make sure the fuses have not corroded if the fuses are good then head to the ignition make sure if the lights are not coming on your ignition is not power everthing up if you have had the head light out make sure you have not pulled any wires loose as the male female connecters are not hard to seperate tif the ignition is powering up check the fule pump wires make sure all grounds are good an clean you can check most of this stuff with a 12 volt test light very easy to use you will clip the ground wire an touch the other end to power it will light you can chase this down no problem
Getting no power to nothing. Battery good. starter relay
I don't think it's your relay, if you've got power to nothing.Unless it is somehow shorting to the frame.
Likely candidate is the key switch itself. Check the wire that feeds the switch from the battery. If it doesn't have power, you likely have a broken wire or hidden fuse.
If it's got power check the other wires coming from the switch for power with the switch on. If no power there, the switch is bad.

What kind of coolant should I use in my 1997 HONDA
Any non-silica formula 50/50 anti freeze. You want to use an anti-freeze that does not have scrubbing particles in it . A standard automotive anti-freeze that has silica particles to scrub rust out of cast iron motors will damage/shorten the life of the ceramic seal in modern motorcycle water pumps.

Where's the air filter located?
If it's like most honda bikes it is located under the fuel tank, my magna has two chrome nuts that hold the tank in place near the triple tree. Make sure the tank is at least half empty. take nuts off and lift tank. should have a rod to hold it up while you replace filter.

Im trying to takeout my
ok this is going to sound easy but there are a few things you are going to have to do. get the bike standing on its own off of the stand. secure it from falling but keep the engine clear. keep safty at the front of your mind here. put a jack under the motor and take off the motor mounts. bring the jack down to where the pump clears the frame. pull strait out and then look at it in your hand and lauph at the bike and let it know that you just conquered it.
