Synthetic or regular oil, who's right
for best results, just use good old 20w50, the god of oils for motorcycles, and buy from a good make , not cheap wall mart stuff. change the oil at least once a year , twice is better. synthetic has no bussiness in a bike engine. ive been repairing and riding over 30 yrs
Will only run in full choke mode
Try a fuel additive to clean the system, also if the airfilter is dirty or damp, this can cause problems.
You may even have a rust problem in the barrels.
Or even the engine oil may have thickened causing a resistance in the crank bearings, so flush the engines oil ways if other solutions don't work.
What oil would you recommend ?

Good oils both, but there are other good oils from Shell, so its all up to you what you can get. Important is the W10 or W15

Start the first and then go threw the gears. You always need the motor running to go threw the gears or rock the bike back N forf.And if they do not work leave it alone try another dealer.

An internal combustion engine requires (3) three things to run(assuming all the internals are good).:
1. A properly timed spark
2. Adequate compression
3. Proper fuel/air ratio
Start eliminating one at a time, until you find the one that is missing...then you have diagnosed your problem. This is how a professional diagnoses a problem.
1999 Honda Shadow VT1100C Clutch Problem
indicates that the clutch adjustment is incorrect ( possible incorrect oil in use) and the pressure plate is allowing a slow slip until it gets to the point that clutch fade occurs ( friction heat build up glazes the plates
if hydraulic clutch operation , could be in the compensating port in the clutch master cylinder not allow the fluid to pass back to the reservoir properly
if cable a failing clutch cable inside the outer case
At this point , changing and using the recommended oil, and checking the clutch operation method and adjustment may fix it before going into the expense of a clutch
talk with an accredited service dealer first will probably save you cash

Where is the clicking sound coming from ?
Find the starter solinoide and feel it by hand and if its that then check the starter button isnt stuck in !
If its ok then test it with a multi meter with its wires disconnected and press several times and see if making and breaking connection !
If ok then replace solinoide for the starter !
Cranks but no spark
weak battery (it must have 12,6-8V, when engine is runing it must be 13,5 - 14,2V if not, you have bad battery or stator or rectifier). The starter is taking too much energy from battery, so nothing left for sparks.
