Honda Valkyrie Interstate 1999: 25000 miles Cobra
I just went through this over the last 2 months with my 97' Standard. I tore down the carbs, cleaned, replaced all O-rings, Vac tubes and rejetted with new Factory Pro jets. Did not solve the problem. I finally determined it was the gas. I must have gotten a bad tank of the stuff. As soon as I swithed over to a name brand, Cheveron, Texaco, Exxon, etc. the problem was solved. Give that a shot before you start tearing things apart like I did.
My bike won't start(lights light ,horn works
Hey, When that happened to me I took the bike half apart and it ended up being the Kill switch. Try rocking it back and forth also if you have contact cleaner flood the switch and let it dry then give it a light spray of wd-40. also check the start switch to be sure it is making contact, bike is in Neutral and the kick stand switch is also working.
I just baught a 1999
There should still be more than enough space there, under the seat, on the sides, directly under the frame bars. But if there isn't you will need to find a different location to install it: most likely under the radio, flat against the rear fender and just above the transmission case. And of course you will have to slightly modify the wiring - you will have to elongate them a little.
Here you can find a tutorial on how to install it

At idle the bike skips bad but after accelerating
On the inside of the intake manifolds are vacuum lines , through normal driving they dry out and crack causing air leaks. If you have replaced the exhaust system some popping or backfiring through the carburetors can cause the vacuum line to burn and crack. Start your inspection on the intake manifolds and be prepared to replace all the vacuum lines this is a common issue with the Valkyrie stock or modified.
2000 honda valkrie 1520cc battery
Hello Peter,
The Honda alternator should put out at leat 55 Volts AC unloaded at about 2500 -3000 rpm. A quick test is to check each stator lead ( yellow wires from the alternator ) for continuity to each other. You should have about .3-.5 ohm resistance between each lead. Then check for continuity to ground from each lead. You should not have any continuity to ground. Each lead should be connected and should not be connected to ground. The running voltage at the battery should be at least 13.5 volts and can go as high as 14.9 volts when the motor is running at engine speed.
If the battery is marginal or bad the voltage may be lower.
I would have the battery load tested to make sure that it is in top condition. Any additional lighting or electrical equipment can compromise the charging system and cause lots of headaches.
Thanks and I hope that this helps.
Steve
