2004 Honda Shadow VT600C VLX Carb?
You may want to give this product a try its the brand name is Sea Foam they have in spray form i use the non spray form because a lot of bikes just sit for a year or longer and the gas turns to gum to green hard deposits and this was the only product that would desolve the green deposits when i do carb clean / rebuilds.
High beam on headlight stoped
You can go to jpcycles.com for a better price than a dealer, AutoZone is for cars mainly. There is usually a single screw or several screws which hold the metal ring onto the bulb. Carefully remove the ring and the bulb should not fall out as it will be held in by it's plug. Sometimes there is an inner ring which holds the bulb and the chrome ring is just to make it look pretty. Remove that one as well. Install the new bulb in place of the old one and put the screws back in their proper places. That's it. This is a very simple fix.
I just bought a 2004
Sounds like you have a float sticking in your carburetor, is this a single carb or a duel carb? , also gas can go stale and your bike will run like **** if it also has been subjected to tank condensation and water in your gas, that also maybe your problem, I would drain the tank and drain the carb or carbs, and start off with fresh gas and would use 89 octane or better, also pickup some StarTron Enzyme gas treatment, it will stabilize your gas for up to 2 years, and remove the ethanol from your gas, that is a bad for your motor, try it you will never go without it. Good luck, Rick.
Can you change tranny gears to decrease rpm's on
You can add teeth to the front sprocket or take teeth off of the rear sprocket. In the case of your bike , I do not think there is a 17 tooth front available so your best option would be to shorten your chain and drop from the 44 tooth rear sprocket to 40 tooth or a 36 tooth rear sprocket. That would be like adding one or two teeth to the front sprocket. Your stock is 16/44 so decrease from there. Be sure to ID your chain, get a chain breaker, and a new master link.
Won't idle after sitting all winter. Got it to run
after siting for a winter carbs will offten get "gum" in the them. this is just from the gas being still in the carb too long. it is important that carb be removed and cleaned thuroughly. the carb has what are called jets. these are small brass toobs, and these are the more than likely dirty and the reason for the poor idle. more specificaly the smallest one. clean with carb cleaner. ( i use Barrymans B12 chemtool, can be found at local autoparts store) reinstall the carb and test ride. at the end of next season it will help to turn the fuel off and drain the carb of gas completely
