I HAVE A 1997 HONDA

If you have changed the blinkers over to LED lights , you need to put diodes on the wires to stop the fast flash. Honda turn signals Have to grounded to the green ground wires in the harness. You can not ground them to the frame or other wires or the flasher system will not work correctly. Double check that all the wires are connected to the harness correctly (They are color coded). Blue with white band is the same as blue with white stripe. Orange with white band is the same as orange with white stripe. If you have crossed the wires on the front turn signals you may be powering the rear turnsignal with the running light. The running light is the dimmer half of the bulb. The turn signal/flashing light is the brighter side of the bulb. Inspect your wiring carefully.

2004 VT600 AND HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE CLUTCH

It depends on the amount of abuse and the attention to maintance the bike has received in the past. Clutches can last 15+ years or can be destroyed in a few months of hard (abusive) use.

In this case, you might investigate simply changing the oil. Fresh oil sometimes makes a huge difference - especially with a wet clutch. If the oil has been changed regularly and recently, it's possible the clutch is in need of replacement or possibly a simple adjustment. With the lever all the way released, you should have a small amount of free-play in the lever before resistance is felt. 10MM at the end of the lever, or about 1-2MM at the cable end of free-play is desired.

If this change happened suddenly it's possible that something has failed internally. If so, I do not advise that the bike be run until it is serviced.

Towing the bike with a cradle

The easiest thing is to remove the front sprocket cover then just slide the sprocket off the output shaft. Now no adjustments are needed to the wheel to get going again. Use wire or duct tape to hold the chain. DO NOT use twine or similar rope. They can come untied and / or stretch.

Checking timing chain

They are a bit noisy sometimes, hopefully it's nothing serious, good solid bikes those so you should be good. Check you have the correct oil in there, if your running a thin oil, it may increase the noise and wearing. Try this, when its parked up and idling cold (when you start it up in the morning) get a screwdriver or somthing similar place the metal part of the screwdriver on the engine where you think the noise is coming from, then put your ear on the handle, doing this you will be able to pin point exactly where the noise is coming from buy moving the screwdriver around the casting also you can really hear her tick. do it again when she's hot noting the difference of any. If it continues to get noisier, strip her down and have a look in there, could be just the tensioner/guides. good luck

I have a 1996 Honda

The OHC gear must come off the cam and the cam chain must be held with a wire so that it doesn't fall into the gearbox when the head is removed. You are getting into an area best avoided by the do-it-yourself rider. After remounting the cam gear, the camshaft set MUST be installed with the gear timing marks in the proper position. Otherwise the piston will come upward and bend the valves. Don't try it without a service manual. You can do a free download at the website below. I checked and your manual is on the list. You will need a torque wrench when installing the cam and the head. Please rate my answer. Thanks.... www.carlsalter.com/motorcycle-manuals.asp

Bike will idle but when

It could just be that the carb is gummed up. The first thing usually worth trying is running some SeaFoam or a similar carb cleaner through the engine.
1) You want to find a liquid carb cleaner (one that is added to your gas tank) 2) Empty your gas tank (either by running the bike or draining the tank) 3) Put some SeaFoam in the tank 4) Fill the tank up and run the bike
The container will probably tell you how much SeaFoam to add for a car. Take a third of that number to figure out how much to put in your bike.
I've found this solution to work as a great first attempt for a variety of engine problems on my Honda motorbike. Hope it helps.

2000 shadow. brand new

Locate the wires coming out of the motor. There is a plug with three yellow wires, check the three yellow wires coming out of the motor for continuity. Any combination of the three yellow wires should have continuity. But there should be NO continuity between any of the three wires and ground. If any of the yellow wires are grounded you have a bad stator. If the stator checks good you probably have a bad voltage regulator/rectifier.
