How to replacet rhe frount break pads

Their is a flat head screw on the callipar. Unscrew it first. Inside of the flathead screw is an allen wrench nut. Break the allen wrench nut loose. Now unscrew the two bolts that hold the calipar in place. Remove them completely. Slide the calipar off from the disc. Finishing unscrewing the allen head nut that we talked about earlier. Pull it all the way out. Remove the shoes unless they fall out.. Easy to take out.. Blow off the calipar. Replace the shoes. Now put that Allen head screw back in that holds the shoes in place. No need to tighten it yet. Just snug. Spread the shoes apart by using a screwdriver being careful not to damage the pads. Large screwdriver. Slide the calipars over the disc and now put some locktight onto those two mounting bolts for the calipars. Tighten to about 40 lbs. Now tighten the allen set screw that holds the shoes in place. Replace the flattip screw that covers the allen head. Use a impact driver to tighten by hitting it once. Pull on break handle about 4 times to set the shoes to the disc. Do this before you start your bike.. You have brakes.. It was easy.. Way to go!!!

THE REAR SHAFT BOX IS LEAKING OUT OF THE TOP CAP

That can just happen if the conditions are right. Try changing the 80/90 hypoid gear oil in the rear end , then ride it, and just keep an eye on the rear end. It may never happen again. If you use synthetic hypoid gear oil you will have less friction and the rear end stay cooler on long rides.

I have a 2004 Honda shadow sabre, what oil weight

Your motorcycle comes from Honda usually with 10w-40 mineral base motorcycle oil. This is what they recommend for year round driving. You can use any oil that is JASO MA certified motorcycle oil. 10w-40 for cold climate (Wisconsin). 20w-50 for warm climate/touring. Car oils use different additives and may cause scoring in certain types of cam bearings. Do not use any oil that says " Energy Conserving " on the label . It will shorten the life of your wet clutch and transmission gears. If you choose Synthetic oils, they will help your bike run cooler and shift easier. Shell Rotella T and Rotella T Synthetic 15w-40 are inexpensive JASO MA oils. The 15w-40 would be a great all around weight for your needs. You will need 4 quarts of oil, an aluminum drain plug washer, and a filter. Pour in 3.2 quarts , run the motor, and check the oil level . Top up as needed.

What is the front and rear tire pressure 2004

There is a sticker on the frame by the side covers that gives that gives you Honda's recomended tire pressure. I like to run a higher pressure 35-36 PSI front and rear. It gives a stiffer ride but also helps cornering and makes for more even tire wear (less cupping).

If i plan to install all new water hoses on 04

The engine should not have to be removed from the frame in order to install new coolant hoses. Work from the top, Remove the fuel tank and then most all of the hoses are much more accessible.
You may have to remove some of the air box intake to gain access.

I have 175 and 180 size jets in my carburetor on

It doesnt matter if the jets are stock or not it is a myth that the jets must be bigger when you put a stage one kit in. Remember stock jets are there for EPA standards and what size works to pass is what the manufactor will use. I have many times put smaller jets in a carb even on race bikes to get a better performance. I hope this helps.

Bought bike had open pipes, old owner never had

In order for your motorcycle to run correctly you will have to put in larger main jets. Most jet kits also come with a set of needles that have a different taper from the stock needles. If you want the power band of your motorcycle to accelerate smoothly and get rid of the flat spot/hesitation when you apply throttle , you should spend the $100 and put in a jet kit.

How do you test a stator for a98 honda shadow that

A Honda stator is tested the same way on or off the bike. You take a voltage meter and check for continuity between all three yellow wires (all combination's). You should not have any continuity between a yellow wire and ground. That is the sign of a good stator. Two yellows do not connect or a yellow grounds the stator is bad.

Adjusted clutch freeplay now bike dies when put in

There are two switches to check. The first one is at the clutch lever. Its there to stop you driving away if the side stand is down. It works by stalling the engine when you select gear. The other switch is down at the side stand itself. Hope this helps.

I cant get the rear tire off my 2004 honda vt 1100

Often to remove the rear wheel on a Honda , you have to let the air out of the tire and squeeze it out past the shaft drive spline. Some times the problem is made worse by previous owners that put on a tire bigger than the recommended size. With no air in the tire it should come out easily enough.
