CHANGING INJECTED VT 750 FUEL FILTER
Most fuel filters are just like any other. Get the proper replacement part online or from a local Honda dealer.
The filter is in-line on the fuel hose (rubber hose coming from fuel tank). It has an inlet and an outlet - be sure you install it correctly as gas will only flow one way through the filter. The filter usually has an 'arrow' to indicate the direction of the flow or the word 'IN' for the inlet.
The hoses are held on by little clamps that should be easy to release.
Be sure to turn off the fuel supply with the fuel shut-off valve (if you have one), or pinch the supply-side of the hose with a small vise-grip pliers...otherwise gas will pour out all over.

Do you have an alarm fitted sometimes these cause problems of this type. Other things to look at are kill switch, side stand switch and the switch on the clutch all these can prevent the bike from going. You say the battery is good but then say nothing comes on. I would remove the battery (REMOVE THE NEGATIVE LEAD FIRST) try attaching a 21 watt bulb to the terminals and see if the light output dims in a short time. If it does the battery is shot. Batteries these days only last for a couple of years at best. Your first battery from new will always last the longest never did fathom that one out but it seems to hold up. MF (MAINTENANCE FREE) batteries give no warning signs that there are about to die. Switch on ride a while switch off DEAD. I have had it happen twice on my SUZY SV.
I would get a new battery fill and charge it as per the manufacturers instructions PLEASE ONLY USE A DEDICATED MOTORCYCLE CHARGER, A CAR CHARGER WILL FRY THE BATTERY.
WHEN YOU REFIT THE BATTERY, CONNECT THE POSITIVE LEAD FIRST. HOPE THIS ALL HELPS.

you shouldn't remove the baffles. Ya it makes it sound cool, but it mucks up the back pressure - and although it SOUNDS more powerful, you actually degrade the performance!

I think your problem is in the starter button. It is a two position switch. Push it halfway and the head light goes out so more electricity goes to the starter. Push it in all the and the solenoid engages. The starter button is either dirty or broken. You can try cleaning it, but you may have to replace the switch assembly (the buttons are not sold separately).
My VT1100 fire up fine
Try cleaning the carb. Its dirty/ clogged.
You might just have dirty carburetors because of deposits left in the
idle jets and passages as the gasoline evaporates while the motorcycle
isn't ridden every day.
When the idle jets are slightly plugged up, the engine will run better
at higher RPM, but when the idle jets get completely plugged up, the
engine will start and run at idle, but will stall when you twist the
throttle because it really needs the gas from the idle jets to
accelerate when the throttle butterflies are only slightly open.
There are carburetor cleaners like GumOut and STP that are available
in an aerosol can. They contain strong solvents like acetone, toluene
and xylene.
You can spray four or five ounces of the cleaner into a measuring cup
and then pour the liquid into a full tank of gasoline and just ride
until the carbs are cleaned out.
Berryman B12 Choke is good Carburetor
Cleaner.
It comes in convenient liquid form and a 15 ounce can costs about
$3.50 at Wal*Mart.-------
Try cleaning carb and see, this should make difference.--------
This should help.Thanks.Helpmech.
Type of oil and how
You can use any oil that is JASO MA certified motorcycle oil. 10w-40 for cold climate/year round. 20w-50 for warm climate/touring. Car oils use different additives and may cause scoring in certain types of cam bearings. Do not use any oil that says " Energy Conserving " on the label . It will shorten the life of your wet clutch and transmission gears. If you choose Synthetic oils, they will help your bike run cooler and shift easier. Shell Rotella T ($12 a gallon) and Rotella T Synthetic 15w-40 ($22 a gallon) are inexpensive JASO MA oils. You will need 4 quarts of oil, an aluminum drain plug washer, and a filter. Pour in 3.4 quarts , run the motor, and check the oil level . Top up as needed.

More than likely you need a new clutch cable. When you pull the lever and let it out the cable is probably binding just enough to keep the clutch from fully engaging. Thus the clutch slips till the cable fully extends, then the clutch grabs. To test this unhook both ends of the clutch cable and grab one end with your fingers. It should move freely with no resistance. If it is slow or sticky replace it. Even just a kink in the cable close to the housing or rust inside the housing will cause the clutch to not fully engage. The average Honda clutch is typically good for more than 60,000 miles under normal driving conditions. If you drive the bike hard or have been slipping the clutch for a while and notice a burnt smell in the oil, then you may need new clutch plates. Check the cable first, it is a lot easier to deal with.
