You can go to Kawasaki.com and get the manual for "YOUR" bike. They have manuals for owners of 1986 to the present. The VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) must be entered in order to retrieve it. VIN # IS_SEQUENCE OF17 DIGITS. **EXAMPLE ***** JKAVFKA16VB508039 *****

Which way to turn the reserve tank switch on

There are 3 positions (as you probably know). Reserve, on and prime. Under normal conditions with a properly working fuel tap, prime is the by-pass that allows fuel to flow through without the engine running. On and reserve will only allow fuel to pass when the engine is running (uses vacuum from the carb).
  • PRIME has the handle facing down
  • ON is when it is facing the front
  • RESERVE when it faces the rear.
Do not leave the tap in the prime position EVER as this allows the fuel to fill the carb and with the engine running or attempting to start will cause hydrolock that will bend the pistons con-rods. Only use it to fill the carb with fuel and turn it to on or reserve as soon as you can. If the bike runs using the prime position but will not run when on or reserve, then you may have a vacuum problem or a dodgy tap......assuming you have fuel that is. Hope that helps.

Low voltage cannot create a spark

By low voltage do you mean your battery, if not and your battery is good you will need to do a test on the coils, resistance and IB if it is neccasary, also check the pulse coil or crankshaft sensor, Igniter etc, It doesn't take long but there are several areas and also check all connectors and fuses corrosion loosness blown contact etc. If you have had any work done on the bike at the time trouble began start there. Here is a web site that has the wiring diagram for the bike. diagramwiring.net let me know if you need anything else K

The bike has been stud

The bike was left for a long time, the must be discharged.
1) Charge fully the battery (if not charging change the battery)
2) Ove-haul the carburator, clean all the jets for jelly like deposit.

Note: after some time the gasoline dries up leaving a jelly like deposit inside the carburator and must be removed.

I just bought a KLE

cant help with lock, try some graphite powder.
left switch will have high and low beam( H and L) and a horn.(and possibly headlight on off,but this is usally on right hand side)
Pri is prime, only to be used to help start bike if you have run out of fuel, this bypasses the vacumn fuel tap, do not ride, park or leave it on pri.
refill when it runs out and you need to switch to reserve, if you take a note of the odometer reading when you fill, you can figure out how far it goes on a tank full and plan your trips, the reserve is to get you the 10-20klms to the next station.

I have a 2002 Kawasaki Mean Streak 1500 I'm customizing it can the rectifier be moved so it's not just hanging there.

Absolutely, the rectifier on your Kawasaki Mean Streak 1500 can be repositioned during a customization project. The rectifier is a crucial part of the motorcycle's electrical system, converting alternating current (AC) from the stator into direct current (DC) to charge the battery and power the bike's electrical components. While relocating the rectifier, it's important to consider a few key factors:
  1. Space and Mounting: Assess the available space on the motorcycle to find a suitable location for the rectifier. Ensure that the new position allows for proper mounting and secure attachment without interfering with other components or the bike's functionality.
  2. Heat Dissipation: The rectifier generates heat during operation, so it's essential to relocate it to an area with adequate airflow for cooling. Mounting it in a well-ventilated area helps prevent overheating issues.
  3. Wiring and Connections: When moving the rectifier, ensure that the wiring can be appropriately rerouted to reach its new location. Take care to maintain proper electrical connections and ensure a secure, stable wiring setup.
  4. Protection: Consider adding protective measures, such as shields or guards, to safeguard the relocated rectifier from road debris, water, or other potential hazards.
Modifying the placement of the rectifier may require custom brackets, mounts, or fabrication work to secure it in the desired location. It's crucial to execute the relocation carefully, maintaining proper electrical connections and ensuring the rectifier's safety and functionality. If you're not confident in performing these modifications yourself, consulting a professional motorcycle mechanic or technician with experience in customizations can be highly beneficial. They can offer guidance, expertise, and ensure that the modifications are carried out safely and effectively.

Looking replacement batteries for kawasaki 21.6 volt batteries part # 691221

eBay is the only place and there is only one. https://www.ebay.com/itm/266382749570 Or direct from China https://power-tool-batteries.en.made-in-china.com/product/tqRnSCOglNhK/China-Kawasaki-Power-Tool-Batteries-21-6V-Replacement.html Or you can open it up and solder in the individual NiCad cells. Better to replace with NiMH. This is probably why they don't exist, RECALL on the charger. https://www.cpsc.gov/Recalls/2007/alltrade-tools-recalls-power-tool-battery-chargers-due-to-burn-and-laceration-hazards ..
