2003 kawasaki KLX 125 Questions & Answers
Hi we have a 2003 klx 110 thats not making spark
Try disconnecting the kill switch. If it fires, replace the switch.
Check spark plug cap. It screws into the wire. Give it a turn clockwise and check again for spark. If not, unscrew it counter-clockwise and look at the small core of wire ends in the middle. Those will over time break and cause inadequate connection. Use some wire cutters and snip about 1/4 inch off the end and screw the cap back on.
If still nothing, you need to check the coil resistance and the stator. Eliminating everything else is the only way to diagnose a bad cdi.

The bike will not shift into gear
if the bike has been sitting for a while the clutch plates can stick together, you will still feel spring tension from the pressure plate. two ways to free it up.
with the engine stopped click it up into top gear, put the front wheel against a wall, pull in the clutch, and push on the kick start, or push start it in gear, pull in the clutch and vary the throttle .
Change the oil after the ride with good motorcycle engine oil.
When giving gas it wants to die. will not run
This is what happens when a motorcycle sits for a long time without being operated (sometimes in as little as six months of storage). Over time, the gasoline in the carburetor evaporates and leaves behind a tar like varnish which pluggs up the very small openings in the carburetor passageways and jets.
The carburetor will have to be completely disassembled and cleaned. Soak all of the metal parts in a commercially available carburetor cleaner (be sure to follow the directions and all warnings that come with it). Do NOT place any plastic or rubber carburetor parts in the cleaning solution, they'll be ruined.
Upon reassembly, be sure to blow out all of the carburetor passages with compressed air. Same with the carb jets, blow air through them and then hold them up to a light and make sure you can see through them.
Tip: I have found that Simple Green is capable of removing fuel varnish from carb parts with an overnight soak.
The bike will run with a push start, but the
Take a compression test on the cylinder.
Check the spark plug and its gap.
Check the condition of the spark plug, is it whitish, brownish or blackish?
If its whitish means the engine is running 'lean', if it's brownish....means runs ok, blackish means its running too rich ..thus fouling up the spark plug.
Check the valve clearance too.
Since its not idling....check the intake rubber for leaks.
As also you have cleaned the carburator, recheck the jets fittings, blow the primary jet, recheck the float level if its correct.
You might too, have to reset the air-mixture screw. Its all the way in , being careful not to reach it too tight in it may damage the screw, thn trun it outwards 2 and a half turns or so....keeping the idling screw a little high and as you thn hear the engine sounding proper reset the idling to the required rpm.
Hope this helps! Good Luck.
How do you respoke a kawaski klx125 back rim?
Hi,
You need to be very experianced for this task. Further you will also need a wheel jig.
I suggest you let a proffessional do this for you.
If there is not a dealer near you, get the local bicycle mechanic to do this.

What oil should i use
Hi,
Just use an ordinary 4T motor oil, 15W/40 will be okay.
Your oil capacity is 800ml but you could pour the 1 liter, before putting the lubricant clean the oil filter and drain plug.
Hope that helps you out!
