I have a 1988 gsx1100F and it seems to have fuel

Do you let it set for extended periods with the petcock on? I don't recall if that motorcycle has a vacuum diaphram that shuts fuel off when the engine is not running. Even if it does you may want to check that out and make sure its functioning properly.

Fuel may be going into that carbs and seeping past the needle seat in the float bowl. From there if comes out the carb and runs into a cylinder, through the piston rings and into the oil.

Also the bogging could be some flooding. May want to make sure your floats are working properly.

Charging problem

There is a thing called a bridge rectifier. It clips 1/2 of the AC power coming from the alternator. It makes the battery think it is getting DC - it is actually rectified AC. If there is a bad diode in the bridge, your battery will not charge. Test with a flash light battery and lamp. Good will pass power in one direction but not the other. If you can get the light to work in both directions, there is a bad diode.

Is it better to rebuld or pelace the alternator

Hi,

It is actually cheaper in some case's to rebuild but in others it is cheaper to buy new. If you can rebuild it yourself then it is cheaper but if you need to take it to a shop , try to get the best price possible on a new unit and get someone to fit it.

Hope this helps.

Thanks

What size spark plug socket

Hello, I don't know what size the socket you will need, but an easy way to find out is buy the spark plug(s) that is recommended for your bike, then go to an auto parts store with your plug, and find out what size socket you will need.

I have a 87 suzuki katana 1100 and the oil case

Definatley not 5 quarts! Im not sure what the 4300ml is, but i would suggest about 2300ml to be correct, about two and a half liters. You should have an oil level dip stick, or a oil level sight glass on it. Do not put 5 quarts in it. My V6 car holds 5 quarts max. You need to find the oil level marker and go with that.

Gs1100gl, cant change gears. clutch is very hard

I cant remember if those still had a clutch cable, if it does, remove the cable and check the inner moves freely, or get a new cable, adjust it up until there is a small amount of freeplay at the lever, and see if it changes gears then.
The rod that is activated by the clutch arm can sieze up in the casing as well and may need cleaning and greasing

How do I putt fork oil in my 88 1100f susuki

Hi

Remove the front axle, the wheel and undo the clamps holding the forks, there are two sets usually held on my allen key bolts.

Slide the forks out of the tubes and empty the fork oil into a container. Refill (usually 8oz but check manual) with the correct grade of oil and slide the fork legs back into the tubes. Tighten the clamps and refit wheel and axle. Test the forks first by pushing down on them.

Hope this helps, please vote for me.

On a1988 gsxr1000 does #1&4run on the same

Don't use HTML. Just type what you have to say.

Pull all the plugs, turn the engine to TDC and shine a light in the plug holes. The two pistons that are bot up share a coil.

Sorry about that does #1&4 ruin on the

don't use the HTML for "&"; it's not necessary. Took me about 45 or 50 seconds to figure out what it was that you were asking.

Take the plugs out, put a small light in the holes (LED flashlight, penlight, whatever), and turn the engine to TDC. The two cylinders with the pistons up are on the same coil. One of them is at the top of the exhaust stroke whenever the other is at the top of the compression stroke.

1994 gsx1100f highspeed engine probs

Your main jets sound like they too small or partially blocked with dirt/varnish. If steady cruising at 4500 is smooth, and you open the throttle somewhat quickly, it stumbles a bit, and breaks up it is too lean or the jet is too small. If it bogs, and smokes it's too rich. You could pull one of the spark plugs and check it's color. It sounds to me that it is too lean, perhaps aftermarket exhaust was fitted, and the carbs weren't re-jetted to compensate? I hope this helps.

How do I remove fork caps on '88 Katana 1100 ?

Hi,
From what I know about this, the ring has a split in it. If you can't see it because of dirt, clean it up and look again. A small flat screwdriver should be sufficient to pry the ring free. Gentle, slow and steady...

You might have some luck by pulling on the bottom of the fork to try and release some of the pressure from the spring.

And if that still hasn't worked you may have to separate the fork in order to dismantle this cap.

Good luck, Let me know...
