2000 Suzuki VS 800 Intruder - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
Have a 2000 Suzuki Intruder 800. Back cylinder
When cleaning a multi carb bike, it is best to take them all off. Clean and reset float levels on both. Then reinstall, set both idle mixture screws about 1 turn out. Then adjust, and you'll probably have to syncronise them also.
I have a 2000 intruder 800 that is stumbling while
Sounds like you have a clogged pilot jet in the front carburator. Have the dealer remove the pilot jet and clean it. They can also adjust the pilot fuel mixture and synchronize the carburators to make it run properly. If they can not do that, you should find another shop.
How much fork oil is required in the front forks
Hi, all model VS 800 from1992-2000 take the same amount of oil in the front forks, using 10 weight fork oil measure into a clean measuring device or mark the side of the oil bottle 413 mls, pour this caerfully into 1 fork, and the same amount into the other fork, 413/413 cm (3)
Hard start when bike sits up for 4 or 5 weeks.
SeaFoam...stabil just doesnt quite cut it with these bikes. The big problem is Ethanol...The Seafoam works like stabil, but also helps with upper cylinder lubricant, a water dispercent, and a cleaner. My wife has a 800 VS and I have a 1400 VS. , and without using the Seafoam, after a couple of weeks of sitting, the jets will gum up. Using the Seafoam for the last few years...never a problem..In fact I use the stuff in all my bikes, snowmobiles, lawnmowers, ect...Also there is another new product on the market that will keep the gas fresh for up to two years...Its called Star Tron. You can find it at your motorcycle shop, or maybe napa now...Good luck...RWflatlander
Need to change the oil
Hi, the oil you need for vs800 gl is 10 W 40 grade is SF andthe quantity in litres is 2.8 you could use a KN oil filter available at most outlets
Bike is running like the choke is on . no power
old gas, fuel filter in the tank, air filter clogged on carbs , sometimes suzuki likes to run on 93 octane , more responsive.
more than likely it filter if you let sit for long periods and same gas
ethenol produces water, after long periods, let me know ..
Rough idle and backfire at low end RPM
Many can cause this kind of problem, such as your jets are starting to clog-up, you have changed your jet-settings, you fuel bowl is not delivering proper fuel amount even dirty and clogged air filter can cause havoc, your ignition timing (magneto) has jumped (out of sequence because it is weaker sparks power), etc.
To start, does it idle properly after a good 3-5 minute warms-up in the past? Check you carb adjustments.
If this happened recently and you have not done or change any settings, try using carb-fuel jet cleaner from STP or Valvoline, etc in your fuel tank mixture when filling-up. Good enough?
It keeps blowing fuses
There's a short circuit somewhere. Try cleaning the ground terminals and keep them tight/
Need schematic for VS800GLP motorcycle
if your fan is not working at any time at all and your sure the fuse is good pull the radiator cover and look on the top of the radiator just beside the top hose there is a relay screwed in to the radiator that has fin type pugs or plug on the back this was the issue with my 2000 intruder vs 800 I'm not sure the price about 60 bucks I think but I would first straight wire the fan to make sure that the fan motor is not bad
Wife attempted to start her Suz Intruder 800,
I'm a Honda guy but try looking around under the seat or under the side panels for a main fuse. If the main fuse is fried (usually around a 30 amp fuse) nothing will happen with the bike unless the fuse is replaced.
Checked the battery with a multimeter, power to the
Hi and welcome to FixYa,
What seems to be the issue with the bike? If the starter motor fails to spin, try starting with the clutch lever pulled in and/or the sidestand folded up. If it starts, then the safety interlocks has to be checked.
If the starter motor starts, then check for the absence/presence of sparks.
Good luck and thank you for using FixYa.
Suzuki VS 800 Intruder won't start unless jumped.

Could be a bad relay and they are easy enough to rest. The problem with bikes is corrosion. Involved in starting, is the battery, the battery connections, the starter button, the relay, and the starter solenoid and its connections. Break all the connections, clean with a wire brush until shiny, smother them with Vaseline and do them back up. Vaseline stops oxidization and also transmits electricity. Ideas in this link from owners regarding corrosion.
