2005 Suzuki Boulevard C50 - Page 9 Questions & Answers
Is the motor oil also the transmission fluid or is
One and the same- that is why, if you use an oil that is not motorcycle-specific, make sure that it does not have the "energy saving" label in the grade rating emblem. I have run Shell Rotella, both dino and synthetic, for most of the 32K of my Boulevard.
Is the enginesuppose to make noise
The Vol/C50 has had its engine referred to as the "angry sewing machine" for the valve noise, which is normal. If you do not know if the valves have been adjusted recently, it would be a good idea to do so. Fortunately, a noisy engine may be closer to sped than one that is too quiet- if the exhaust valve are too tight, you can burn one in time. A louder, clunking noise from the lower side case maight indicate and early demise for the cam chain tensioner, which has been a problem for some people. My '05 is right at 32K, with no problems at all.
Fuel tank &fuel system
If it is the 800 cc model, your fuel capacity is:
4.5 U.S gallons (17 liters)
There is no fuel shut-off switch on this bike. When the last bar on your fuel gage starts blinking, you are on your reserve and have only about 1 liter of fuel left.
Is there adjustment in the rear shock? and if so
Adjusting the rear shock is a realitively simply process, once you expose the shock.
On the left side of the bike, use your key to remove the tool box cover. Remove the inner cover from the tool box and remove the tools that came with the bike. The tool box itself is held in with 2 - 10 mm hex head screws (which also have philips head slots). Remove the tool box.
Now the rear shock absorber should be visible. Use the spanner wrench and handle extension in your tool kit to make the desired adjustments to the shock absorber.
Reverse the process to put everything back together.
I need to adjust the
To adjust you have to remove the side cover where the tool box is turn the spring clockwise to soften counterclockwise to stiffen. Use the spanner wrench in tool kit
How do I adjust
Load the bike and sit on it. Now bounce up and down. You want the front and back of the bike to drop together. If the front drops first on a hard corner and you hit a slippery spot the front of the bike might wash out. If the back drops first in the same situation, the back might skid out , a little easier to recover from, but still dangerous. If you are able to adjust both front and rear, you should be able to set up a perfect soft ride or firm ride. If you can only adjust the rear, than you want to adjust the drop in the back to match the fork drop. This is how the racers set up there sport bikes for hard cornering , but it works for all styles of riding.
How do I remove the turn signal assmeblies from my
the light is a full assembly. the soft plate in front removes with a single screw from the bottom center. it makes access to the nut holding on to the light assembly. the headlight must be removed to get to the end wire connections.
Clutch slipping when accelerating
what oil are you using as oil with molyslip or low friction type will creat clutch slip,,check manual which shows which engine cover to remove and the bolts holding the springs
My brake light and rear signals aren't working and
I don't recall ever seeing a fuse for those lights. You may want to simply check under the rear fender where the wires run and make sure they haven't been disconnected somehow. I modified my rear fender a while ago and didn't tuck the wires up high enough. I had a passenger ride on the back and the tire rubbed against the wires and completely shorted out my bike. I just had to resplice the wires and everything worked fine after that.
