Hi, Milani if your carburetor or exhaust is:
COUGHING is usually caused by an air leak in the intake system and will generally have the same telltale signs, a wet or damp build up of oil/gas seepage at the intake manifold to the cylinder head or carburetor to intake manifold connection and in rare instances a worn throttle plate shaft and or seals.
POPPING on deceleration is usually caused by a lean fuel condition or an air leak in the exhaust system and is generally located where black carbon soot is seen as a flashing build up from any joint connection. This condition can easily be remedied by removing and cleaning both joint pieces and reassembling with high temp silicone and torquing the exhaust clamp to the proper spec.
SPITTING is usually caused by a faulty accelerator pump and or nozzle, or the float bowl needle and seat leaking and overflowing through the main jet mixing well nozzle, or the air-fuel mixture screw is adjusted too lean.
BACKFIRING is usually caused by a sticky/tight intake valve or a timing issue, 180 degrees out or cam chain off 1or 2 teeth.

Hi, Nestor the answer to this question is way above my pay grade for this situation I would call my local dealer or reputable shop's service/parts department and inquire about any possible quick fix, answers, or parts inquiry. If necessary, transport your bike to the dealer or shop and have a professional technician take it for a test drive, if it is in running condition, and give you a written estimate of repairs and answer any specific questions you may have about your problem.

Sounds to me like one of three possible problems, or some combination of them.

1) Loose or damaged vacuum hose to the MAP sensor. Check all the hoses to your throttle bodies.

2) Bad O2 sensor. Use multimeter to check or take to the dealer (or buy and use Tuneboy.)

3) Throttle Bodies need to be synced. Again, requires trip to dealership

Two things fixed mine first a new battery, the Sprint needs a really good charged battery to start, not just an old charged battery. Even jump starting didn't work for me. Second non ethanol fuel, these engines hate ethanol.

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

The click of the relay is significant if it came from the starter relay. It would indicate that the contacts of the starter relay are not allowing power from the battery to flow to the starter motor. To check, temporarily jumper the 2 terminals of the starter relay; the starter motor should spin. To locate the starter relay, follow the big cable from the battery's + terminal. It would end up tied to 1 of the 2 terminals.

Good luck and thank you for asking FixYa.

It may be time for new spark plugs and some carb or injector cleaner...............I would also check plug wires and oil level due to leveling sensors built into the engine safety system.......Hope this helps.

This could be anything from the valve settings being loose, to piston slop or wrist pins, to rod bearings. Really hard to say, since a rattle can describe a lot of different things. If you can isolate the location of the noise, it would help greatly in the diagnosis.

If you have access to a stethoscope, you can listen to different areas of the engine and tell where the noise is coming from.

No stethoscope, use a large screwdriver, put the tip against the engine and handle to ear. Move around the engine till you find the loudest noise. That will be the area that probably needs attention.

It has to do with cranking amps. Cold draws electricity. Also metal(i.e. cylinders shrink a small amount, also oil thickins when cold. Its all normal dont trippppp...

Hi, Anonymous the vast majority of service, parts fiche, and owners manuals on the internet are "FREE" to download and all service manuals contain wiring diagrams in the back pages. The rest usually charge a modest fee of $15 and there is a handful of obscure, rare, obsolete, and very old models that are no longer or never were available and some were never printed in English. The Indian and Philippine markets are usually in E-book format only, for these rare occasions I shall look on eBay and find the cheapest one available. Most of the manuals will cover your exact make, model, and year otherwise one will be provided that comes as close as possible to your bike and will have most of the same info that an exact manual would have. If there is no $ sign after the manual link it is free to download.

Hi, Jacko_69 if some or all of your instrument cluster goes dark/blank immediately upon startup or a few minutes later riding down the road the usual suspects are:
1. Blown instrument fuse.
2. A bad ground in the instrument circuit.
3. Faulty wiring before or after the fuse.
4. Faulty wiring or connector between the fuse and the instrument cluster.
