unlikely to be an igniter as it accelerates after backing off a bit
any problem in that electronic box will fail worse with more revs indicates a problem in the carbys still with a power diaphragm not operating correctly

Need to replace broken gear shift rod
I'm not sure about the actual way to fix this without removing the motor. But for $1200 you could just pay someone to cut the old one and cut a replacement part to the correct length, then weld it on while its still on the bike. With that size of bar the weld heat wouldn't be to much to worry about it affecting anything else. Although I'd probably just rig something up to the lever without welding to it. At the end of the day it just rotates two ways with a footpeg.
The tacho and No.1 cylinder (nearside) stopped
Did you ever find the solution. The same thing happened to me last week.Have checked everything except the igniter.Local Triumph dealer says it could take anything up to 5hrs labour to pinpoint fault without actually fixing it.New igniter is 450 plus vat but how can I be sure that is the cure.
Radiator fan does not come on, overheating lamp blinks
Disconnect the two fan plugs leads from the fan sensor switch in the thermostat housing bridge the two plugs with a wire if the fan starts then you will need to replace the fan sensor switch if not the fan will need replacing ,as for the temp light flashing with the indicator light maybe because they share the same fuse and they could share a common earth as well?

Bought new LED indicators for
I would check the battery voltage and ensure the battery voltage doesn't go above 14 volts. There may be a regulator fault. If all reads OK with a meter, replace the flasher unit for a more stable one.
Hope this helps and ride safely.
It keeps blowing tail fuse
inspect the wiring carefully, start from the globe holder, and trace the wires as far as you can, looking for any broken insulation, or where a connector or some wire could be exposed and touching some metal part, causing a short out.
Accelarator cable snapped
This may be a real hard job. You will have to remove the fuel tank, If
your bike has a large air box under the tank you will have to remove it.
Now you should be able to see any cables to the carbs and any clips or
brackets that hold them in place. You may have to remove the carb's also
- reason will be to gain access to the cable ends, they have a ball
that fits into a slot on the carb linkage and can be very tight or hard
to reach. First things things first, disconnect the battery. Hope this
helps you get started.
Blowing tail light fuse
Hi and welcome to FixYa,
The only reason a fuse would blow is because of excessive current flow. The tailight bulb by the very nature of its design could not internally short and therefore could not cause the fuse to blow.
Initial possibilities then are:
- corroded / rusted bulb socket;
- pinched wire / harness specially under the seat rearwards.
Postback results of checks on above items.
Good luck and thank you for asking FixYa.
The battery is discharging when running and
Hi and welcome to FixYa,
Initial checks would be the rectifier/regulator combo, wires/connector from the stator to the regulator and the stator itself
Good luck and thank you for asking FixYa.
Bike won't start
hi mate make sure you have put the correct amount of oil in and to check the plugs take the plug out and put it against the engine with it still connected and turn the engine over if it sparks ok then there fine if you want to go more technical get a feeler guage and adjust the cap on the plug to the manuals requirements good luck
Triumph Legend 1998 same as Thunderbird 900motorcycle running badly.
Was the bike working okay after the overhaul? Mis firing due to bad setup or very bad fuel.If it has not run right since the work was carried out ask the repairer to take a look.
If it only started to go awry after using wheap fuel, (it should still be of uniform quality with other fuel,)
I would drain the tank and refill with premium. Try not to get any air into the system if you do this, makes life easier
GOOD LUCK
