2004 Triumph Triumph Bonneville - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
Will tacho be accurate?
depends on what and where you are measuring ... if you are measuring rpm of the crank shaft ... there should be no change baced on different drive sprockets. The speedo will be different and the RPM will not match the expected speed because you changed the size of the drive and driven sprockets.

Left bank won't fire at low speed.
Chances are the carb slides are out of synchronization. Remove the air filters and look inside the carbs ( with a mirror if need be ). With engine off, crack the throttle and see which slide begins to raise first. Adjust the other carburetors' cable to make the slow carb raise to match the timing of the other carb.
Put in some new spark plus as well.

Motorcycle failure in wet weather
Probably a loose or dirty connection in the wiring. Pull the gas tank and check all connections including the spark plug connection. You may want to put a more waterproof spark plug cap on the bike. If you can find it, get a can of LPS 1 and spray all wire connections, ignition coil and even inside the flywheel.
LPS1 is a di-electric. It will not harm electrics. Sprayed on ignition points, you can run a water hose on them while the motor is running and it won't miss a beat. I didn't believe it so I tried it. Works great! Google ' LPS lubricants ' for a source. Yes, I know it says lubricants. It is a di-electric lubricant. Try it.
Please rate this solution. Thanks!

Problems in wet weather and cleaning my triumph won't start.
Water is getting into your ignition coils.
Trace the spark plug lead up to the coil.
Get some ignition sealer spray and spray loads of it on the leads and coil.
When a bike is new, it is sealed. After washing with detergents it gets washed away. Spray the leads and coil once a week to keep them totally dry.
An immediate way to get round when wet is to spray wd40 on the leads and coil, it should start straight away.
But, don`t spray ignition sealer on until it is totally dry.
Hope this helps
