2008 Triumph Street triple Questions & Answers
I have a 2008 street
Thank you for the inquiry.
Sounds like a wire or harness is getting pinched coming out of your key switch or ignition wire harness between the forks and the triple clamp.
Inspect all the wires and harness in those areas thoroughly and you will probably find some abrasion where the insulation has wore away and you are grounding between the stop wire and the frame every time you turn.
You can isolate and tape the wires with electrical tape then re-tape the harness. Some black or frame colored wire ties will hold the wires or harness out of the way precluding further occurrence or shorting.
Hope this helps helps. Please keep us updated and remember to rate this answer.

The axle looks pretty solid to me. I have NEVER seen a hollow axle. This sounds like one of those "Trick" items that is supposed to make the bike lighter and faster (and more prone to crash due to a weak axle). For safety reasons I would get a new axle.
Can I get a “very helpful” rating on this answer? < And it doesn’t cost anything extra!

No spark on zxr750j2
Hi and welcome to FixYa,
Initially, when starting check for the presence or absence of :
- +12 on the red wires of the ignition coil;
- very high pulsating voltage on the black & green wires from the CDI to the other terminals of the coils;
- very low pulsating voltage (0.5VAC) between the green & black wires from pulser coil;
- +12 on the brown wire of the CDI.
Additionally, try starting with the clutch lever pulled in and/or the side stand folded up.
Postback results of tests.
Good luck and thank you for using FixYa.
Revs not dropping when hot drop very slowly
I am glad you know about air leaks. Check the cooling fins for oil stains where the head meets the cylinder. A oil stain means the head needs tightened down or the head gasket needs replaced. Set the valve clearances. Bad jet seals can also be the problem.
Front wheel axle pinch bolt torque setting
tight is right. just do it up tight and re-check it after a ride or two. it'll be fine. dont go at it like an animal though, i have never torqued wheel nuts and never had any trouble. if you dont trust your judgement ask the bike shop who is fitting your new tyre and balancing the wheel
Engine heat burning my legs
is this bike air or liquid cooled if air cooled this is normal on a bike to get hotter in stop and go but if liquid cooled then your water pump is bad and not circulating fluid enough through engine head to keep engine cool.
Triumphstreet triple wont stast battery ok makes funny noises
If Your battery is ok and there is no corrosion on the terminals or cable ends, then your next step is to check the stator and the voltage regulator/rectifier. These parts fail at a high rate due to heat. There is a couple of threads you can read on how to trouble shoot this problem at www.triumphrat.com. I hope this helps.
Fitting hugger 2013 street triple
Easy - follow instructions - do not tear the brake lines, put copper grease on all bolt/screws you use, do not overtighten them. if you have to remove chain guard keep it for when you sell.
How to change from mph
As the triumph is a British bike, the speedo reads in MPH. You can get stickers off the internet (ebay) that you can stick on the speedo glass to remind you of the KPH speeds.
Also be aware that my Triumph speedo from around 12 years ago read faster than I was actually doing any way, even at speeds of only 50kph!
I HAVE A problem with
At this stage and the info I have. I would check my fuses and breakers for the lights and ignition. You can also try to turn the key on and push start to see if it will fire. If this fails then you may have a bad ignition, or the guts to the switch have came loose and not resting in the correct positions for the barrel to do its job. Unfortunatly to me it sounds more like the key switch is not working correctly. time to call the people who fixed it the forst time and get a refund or have them fix this.

Hi, barry,is the bike actualy running ok? Is the oil clean its not unusual to find this around the filler cap, especialy if the bike does short journeys, as the bike doesnot get hot enough this gunge as you call it is produced, clean the cap out, run the machine on a longer journey and recheck it, paul
Triumph motorcycle cold start noisy
Was it notice able right after the service? It sounds like they didn't get it to oil pressure before starting the engine, doing this can damage the bearings on camshaft and small end. So now it needs more oil pressure to level out the damage to the shells.
