2008 Triumph Rocket III Questions & Answers
Rocket 111 second gear
Can't help yet, but my 2007 is doing the same thing in 2nd. I have it in the shop now. I'll post something when I know what is wrong.
Any tricks when removing rear wheel on rocket3
you have to jack the bike up at the rear of the motor high enough to remove the wheel after removing the axle.keep the side stand down in the process. works well for me.these bikes munch tires so you will become good at doing this.
Fuel light comes on and bike stalls, can restart straight away
Try adding Lucas injector cleaner to a tank of gas. I'm hearing a lot of R3 owners are having issues with the ethanol in our gas. I tried it in mine and it's all but eliminated the problem. Going to drain the tank and start fresh in the spring. Good luck!
Rocket 3 classic 08 2,000 miles, switched the kill
mine did this.it was a faulty kill switch. The ign switch on rockets causes similar problems, mainly cause the headlights are fed thru the ign switch eventually cooking it.This is a stupid design and can be resolved by fitting a headlight relay, which is a bit of a mission unless you know what you are doing.
Sounds silly, but I need
Removing your rear wheel is fairly easy, however, if you don't have a tire removal and replacement set of tools, it turns out to be far less aggrivating to take the bike to any local tire shop and just have them do it. I speak from experience. Save your mind and a few less gray hairs. Thanks, Dana
Gearbox problems
I have a 2004 Rocket with 38,000+ miles and have never had any mechanical issues. There are others who have though. I don't think it's so common that everyone should be worried, but it is something to be aware of.
Triumph didn't cover any of the cost? I know it's a 4 year old bike, but Triumph has been covering atleast the parts cost for similar repairs and they have an upgrade kit that addresses tranmission issues, a replacement lower timing chain gear, timing chain adjuster and other issues.
Cold knock
This is just a suggest, mind you, but if its still under warrenty, I would run it by the dealer, because from what you write, it sounds like a little bit of piston slap.
That engine should be tight.
Triumph Rocket 3 has stalled.
Well if nothing is working I would think it was the ground wire from the battery to the body. Because the horn and lights don't need the ignition switch on to work. Remember when jump starting a car you always hook the ground cable of the dead battery to the body of the car and not the negative side of the battery. Because if the ground wire isnt correctly connected from your body car frame to the battery it could blow up in your face. So remember that if your trying to jump start the car.My guess without looking at it is ground related... Hope this helps
Will not start turn over
make sure batt is charged to 12.6volts-if not then weak spark--it cud be old an worn too--or alternator needs service--chec connections for corrosion----inspect fuel delivery from tank to carb----may want to test compression-mite b weak

Hello and welcome to FixYa!
As a first course of action, I strongly suggest
that you remove the positive battery connector. Let it sit for atleast 5mins.
then reconnect it again. This will reset the system and can get your bike run
normally again.
If the problem still persists please check the
bike thoroughly for loosen or worn out vacuum hoses. Do check the connectors of
the sensors too if they are disconnected or loosen. Please secure the
connectors of the sensors for if they are disconnected or a little loose high
revs can be expected.
Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa!
Have a good one!
