Starter moter is not strong enoth to run the bike
Hi,
Sounds like the solenoid contact point is not hitting the solenoid cap.
The solenoid cap have this two terminal( + ) which when you activate the solenoid, a rod would push copper bar and short the two terminal, thus giving power for the starter motor to wind up.
You should pull down again the starter and check that solenoid cap and make sure the contact points are clean and equally seated when it was hit bay a fusing bar.

First thing that comes to mind is over full of oil. Next, have you removed and or changed the stock filter? If no check for a tube from the breather box to the block or valve covers, there should be a check valve there called a burp valve. This valve may have gone bad. If you have removed the stock filter, it helps with a vacuum inside the air box to maintain a negative press on the engine case when running. Check these things an get back to me. Don't use glue!
You will have the situation again that you have now. Use water and fairy liquid. The detergent dries in a few hours and whilst wet allows for possitioning of grips.
A Stanley knife is the only sure way of removing the old grips.

The first things that I would check is the Stator and the Regulator Rectifier. To check the stator and the Rectifier I would suggesting you get the repair manual. The repair manual is a Mechanics best friend. Not all bikes are the same and the manual will help with the diagnostics of both. No action at all from starter motor, not even a
Follow the positive battery cable to the starter solenoid. Unplug the two small wires going to the starter solenoid and push the
starter button . With a voltage meter on the wires from the harness you
should have continuity.Reconnect the wires. Push the starter button, if
you hear a click from the solenoid the button is good. Now, jump the
two cable posts on the starter solenoid. If the starter works you have a
bad solenoid. If you push the starter button and tap on the starter
with a plastic hammer and the starter works, you need new starter
brushes. If anything else in the starter is keeping it from working (shorted or worn armature,corrosion, bad end cap, etc.) you
need a new starter , the starter parts are not available from the
manufacturer.
Wobble
If it is doing this at aproximately 40-50 mph(70-80 kmh)it will be your wheel balancing.
Engine painting
A light coat wont bother but heavy coats do raise engine temp by up to 10-20 degrees.

You have an air leak(s) between the
carb an the cylinder. The rubber seals and fiber gaskets are 19 years old and have become hard. Disturbing the
carb has caused the old hard rubber to crack and let extra air into the mix. Fix the air leaks and the problem goes away. I have seen some guys smear silicon seal on the inside & outside of rubber manifolds. Often, 15 seconds or so in the microwave will make the rubber instantly soft again but only for 10 minutes or so. Just long enough to re-mount and clamp down. Obviously, new parts would fix the problem You can try Babbit's. Generally, if you can find a part anywhere, Babbit's is where it will be.

I own a 1990 xj600 which i have just rebuilt. i
Go get a set of spark plugs one heat range hotter than stock. Also get the stock main jets for your bike. Check your pilot jet size and be sure it is also stock.Set the main jet needle on the 4th notch from the top. Get a float level gage and set the float level. Be sure the floats DO float. then can get gas inside if cracked or rusted fittings. Your bike has a CV carb on the right and a standard carb on the left. I have to admit, I have not seen that set up before. I am not a fan of CV carbs.
