Does the xvs 125 dragstar
It's a vacum fed pump. When in the 'on' position the pump will only feed fuel to the engine when the engine is running. However, when switched to the 'prime' position the pump allows a free flow of fuel to the carb. An owners manual can be found on the Yamaha owners club forum. Hope that helps.

That could be big end or main bearings. You won't know for sure until you take the crank out or remove the barrel and check for play in the bearings.

It could either be engine oil or excess fuel. My best bet is oil.
I would suggest getting an experienced mechanic, motor or motorbike to have a look. Heads must come off. Sleeve must be inspected for cracks and wear. Oil and pressure rings must be replaced and new gasket must be put in for head. If the pistons are worn it sometimes pay to buy pistons with rings allready fitted at reasonable price. If you start this yourself. see it through,

If it has boiled a brand new battery, the regulator is not doing its job.
Put a volt meter across the battery, should be around 13-14v engine running. any higher fit a new regulator
Dont run it for long or you will end up with a coil problem as well

1/When it start to happen was your fuel low on fuel level. Have you ever clean out your fuel tank or replace fuel filter before in the last 2-3 years?
2/Have you use your choke to test if the ideal fuel ratio is on either side of good burning mixture?
3/It sounds your jets are clogged, one way is to use a Fuel injector/carb cleaner mixed into your fuel system, where in the beginning try to use about double the recommended mixture ratio (25ml to 5L fuel), ride the bike for about a week then reduce the ratio to recommended ratio for another week then everytime you refuel use the same ratio for 3 times refuelling and see if that resolve your problem. Good?

Is the coil properly grounded, sounds like its finding an alternative ground,
make sure the metal of the coil where it is bolted to the frame makes good electrical contact with the frame, unbolt it and clean up the metal on the frame and coil with emery paper, dab grease on the metal contact of the coil and bolt it back to the frame - see if the problem persists.

hi, it shouldnt make any difference as long as the coil is made for your bike you should be ok, if you have not had the bike from new then the chances are 1 of the coils have been replaced at thats why their different, so i wouldnt worry to much as long as its made for your bike you will be ok/

Is there any reason why my ignition coil would keep blowing up?
the ignishion coils has about 20,000 volts in it and that takes a lot of holding back, if there is the slightest crack or its got wet then these volts will forse there way out the problem is once they have found a way out they leave a track of carbon and they will all ways find that track after that you can clean it as much as you like but you will never get rid of the track, the best thing to do it change all the parts that are shorting out but pack the joints with silicon grease this should stop water getting in again and stop it from shorting out as for using insulating take that is far to thin to hold back 20,000 volts as the spark for that can jump over 1/4 of an inch just look how thick the plug leads are? and they only just hold it back

Ok on a dry day take a spray bottle with water in it and spray different areas on the bike like the plug ends - coils- fuse box- handel bar switches- Any where there is a connection. Even dehind the head light where the wires go in. You are haveing a moisture problem getting in and shorting the egishion system.
