If you don't have the manual try setting the clickers at the mid setting. Do both for compression and rebound. Then adjust accordingly.
Pipe gets red hot right
generally this means you are running too lean. Check for clogged carb jets. Are you running the correct spark plug?
I have recently purchased a
well I dont know about the drilling part, but it does sound like maybe a dry clutch set, or even a new clutch set that is not been soaked befor install. try the adjustments on the cable, tighten it up about 1 1/2 turns at a time. but it sounds like its a new clutch pack and it just hasent seated yet. clutch plates are alot like the brake pads on a car, they stink and get a little hot befor they seat, or are just too dry. abviously make sure its getting oil first, then try the adjustments.
I have a 92 yamaha
Mate, whatz your valve timing like? Try setting time to factory spec b4 anything as the backfiring happens because exhaust valve still opened when you are in combustion power mode.
Try it.

Not sureon your year of bike, but start with 1 quart, then wait a few minutes, check, and add from there.
It is very basic, but
There should be a plug up on the frame near the steering, it is quite small and you will need a small funnel.
Use four stroke motorcycle engine oil 20/40( not car oils which can cause clutch slip) about 1.1 litres. and you need to run the engine a few minutes before checking the level.
1995 yamaha blows more exhaust on the left side than the right
Assuming the bike idles smoothly and is not smoking you can pretty well rule out bad valves and piston rings. If the air filter is clean then intake should be okay. Are the valves set properly? Is the decompression lever and valve working properly? I assume there is not mud plugging up the pipe. That pretty much leaves the muffler on the right side having an internal collapse and is restricting the flow of exhaust gases. Remove the mufflers and see if the pressures are equal at the head. If the problem is still there then have the shop do a compression check. It is possible a ring has broken or is frozen in the ring groove. This would let some compression into the gear box and account for the lower exhaust pressure. I hope this helps.
How much should it be
It can get fairly expensive to rebuild the rear suspension on bikes depending on what all is wrong with them. You can usually find aftermarket replacement parts for as cheap or cheaper than it would be to have it rebuilt.
How hard is it to
You can do this yourself as long as you have piston ring compressor and torque head bolts and correct torque. You will have to pull jug off completely if this is the gasket you are replacing. Dealer would be about $250
About half way up the
The recess that the spark plug goes in,is quite deep.In order to get any water etc. out, that drainage hole has been put in.Its good that its not blocked. The oil coming out can only come from the valve cover,on top of the motor. Its only the gasket that is leaking. It needs to be lifted, cleaned and reinstalled. As you rev the motor, more oil is pumped around the motor creating extra oil coming out that hole. With the tank off, look down beside the spark plug and you will see it will have the oil in the sparkplug recess. The hole is in no way connected to the inside off the motor. It is purely a drainage hole for the s/plug recess.Hope this helps
Leakin water out of the weep whole in bottom of

basically yes, if this is a 89 or a 99 model you can do so. you will still end up locking the damper in place. but please do note that over doing this may leave the link immovable.

Hard to start and backfires keeps fouling the plug
Try running a hotter plug. AND NEVER TOUCH THE THROTTLE when trying to start it. I had one for years with the same problem. Switched to a hotter plug and it helped alot. But if you touch the throttle, it will foul the plug instantly.
