How do i take off the timing/cam chain on my 2007

without taking apart the whole motor, you can take a chain link apart, and break the chain apart, then tie the the new chain to the old one and pull it back through.

Hard to start at first then pipe gets red hot

Could be a host of things from poor valve tolerances, wrong jets in carburetor, wrong range sparkplug, type of fuel used or a loose stator assembly. Has the top end been maintained? Is compression good? Correct oil type and level? Using the muffler or not? Header dented? Is it serviced regularly?
Retarded timing will run the exhaust hotter than normal and backfire easily, will also ruin valves, piston, rings and cylinder bore.
Take generator cover off and check stator housing and pick-up coil are not loose or show signs of movement in any way.
Check condition of carby jets and replace with stock # or one size larger. Check inlet manifold for air leaks or cracks as too lean a motor will burn valves/piston crown. If this is not the cure, your problem should be left to a mechanic with 4 stroke experience.

Ttr125L can i rethread the stock spark plug to the

You can do that but getting the correct heat range plug might be trouble. The better soluition is to use a Heli-Coil thread repair kit, this will restore the threads to the factory size. A kit comes with a special tap, several heli-coil inserts and the installation tool. Follow the instructions and you will be fine, one tip that I do not know if it is in the instructions or not, pack the flutes on the tap with heavy grease, this will catch and hold the cuttings keeping them from falling down in the cylinder. Also make sure the piston is at the bottom of the stroke when tapping the hole, this will keep the tap from running in to it.

Just bought a Yamaha TTR 50 and it ran great when

I am in ausralia so I do not know if there is an altitude difference between were you bought the machine & where you are now if there is you will need to alter your jetting before you try anything else remove the float bowl & make sure that the needle & seat are not obstructed you can try altering the mixture you will find the mixture screw on the right side of the carby turn it in or out no more than a quarter of a turn at a time this may give you a satisfactory result if not Im afraid it wil be necessary to experiment with the jetting
