Kick start jammed
i do not think so this sounds like a motor seizure you will need to take the spark plug out and see if the piston top is alright if it is try to turn over with the plug out if it want turn over then it has siezed up and will need to be rebuilt
Runs high rpm
must be a faulty tachometer because that bike at 12000 rpm would sound like its about to explode.
Only runs with choke on
Carb no doubt needs a rebuild. Dirt, debris, is not allowing fuel in. Check fuel lines as well. No need to do a part job. Carb ports easily get clogged
Loss of power
Does the bike leak oil, if so fix the leak as 2-stroke engine's fuel supply run through engine casing.
Check exhaust for blockages.
Bike is running lean/rich
Yamaha dt 125 r wont stay running
service it, thats plugs air filter, check ht cap and lead.if you done that then check spark is good, though if the sparks bad its rectifier or cdi problem, double check batteries good as sometimes they earth out when old.if thats ok its fuel checking time, is fuel getting to carbs ok,,do carbs need a serviceby the way carbs=carberreta
Hi,what do i need to convert my dt125 re to kick start
I dont think this is possible. Best you might be able to do is pop the clutch while pushing the bike. A kick start appratus requires not only the part you see and would kick, it has to have internal parts. Your motorcycle is either manufactured for a kick start or it is NOT manufactured for a kick start. If you find out otherwise, please let me know.Thank you
Excess smoke from exhaust
I would make sure the oil level is not too high. Next I would remove a spark plug and test compression to see whether your rings are worn excessively.Hope this helps.
My power valve on my

Any 2 stroke engine oil will work. I suggest you stick with Yamaha's oil.

Do you need a battery to start a 1972 250cc yamaha
hi.
i am pretty sure that the enduro 250 gets the power for the spark direct from one of the magneto coils. there are 2 coils behind the magneto. one feeds the lighting and battery for the bike.
the other should run through a set of points, through the coil and then to the spark plug.
you should not need a battery at all to start the engine, but you may need to check the points and the coil, and the wires behind the magneto unit for any damage.
HI JUST BRAUGHT A YAMAHA
If it overheated when the first seal went, you may have a head gasket problem, either that or the seal was replaced incorrectly.
