Fireing order 04 midnite star got plug wires mixed
Generally the leads are a tight stretch and having slack if around the wrong way. Take the sparkplugs out and connect each to your best choice of leads. Place these so they are resting metal to metal on the cylinder heads. Place your finger tip tightly over front cylinder sparkplug hole and rotate engine with ignition on. When compression is felt (your finger will "pop" off hole) and the sparkplug that sparks will be the front cylinder coil and lead. Repeat procedure with rear cylinder to confirm.....mark F and R on lead caps when your done!
Cheers.

Bike is hard to star
Hello. Yes you definitely have crud in the carb and possibly other places within the engine. Go to an autoparts store and get a can of carb. cleaner additive for your fuel. Run a tank full of treated fuel through the bike and after a couple of miles you should be able to reduce the choke. If this treatment does not cure the problem the carb. will have to be removed, cleaned and rebuilt. Joe
Starter
Jump the starter directly from a freshly charged battery NOT a car battery, if it turns then it's good and you may have a bad starter relay or neutral safety switch or starter switch is poorly grounded.
Vstar 1100 yamaha will not idle, only runs with full choke
Well first things has the bike been sitting up. I know that the weather has not been on the side of the rider lately. The problem that i see all the time is the gas varnishes and "gums" up what it does is blocks the jets and small air ways. The long it sits and it varnishes and worst it gets. Since you can start the bike you may be able to save some money. Get your a can of berryman's B12 chemtool. you can find it at your local parts store or online. Pour the whole can in it wouldn't hurt a thing. now that it is in the tank start the bike and let it warm up, use your chock as little as you can so the bike will stay on put a fan on it and the B12 do its thing. Running it for a little will help ensure that the B12 has reached the float bowls. If this does not help give your local bike shop a call.

Unsure to what the problem maybe
Your hub gear spline may be toast. You will have to remove the rear tire and shaft to check the splines on the drive hub. That is providing your clutch plates are not worn out.
Forks are out of alignment
STAND IN FRONT OF THE BIKE FACING THE HEADLIGHT. STRADDLE THE FRONT WHEEL AND CLAMP THE WHEEL BETWEEN YOUR LEGS. NOW "TWIST" THE HANDLEBARS TO A STRAIGHT POSITION. IT MAY REQUIRE A FEW TWEAKS BUT THE PROCESS IS NOT HARD.
No spark to spark plugs
have you checked the air gap between the pick up & stator is ther power to the coils if so you will need to test them have you checked all the relays fuses & electrical conections to the coil somethig as simple as as a lose conection can bring the best machin to a stand still you say there is no spark at the plugs is that with the plugs removed from the head & placed in the cap heald against the head with the engine turning over if so remove the cap from the lead & hold it about 6ml from the head crank the engine over if it throws a spark it would be safe to assume that the plugs or the caps have expired also you should check the leads for continuity this can be done useing a multimeter set to ohms place a probe at either end of the lead youshoul get a zero reading if there is continuity if you run all these tests & still come up cold I would try to borrow a set of coils of some one with the same model electrical gremlins can be quiet elusive let me no how you get on Iwill see you through this till it is remedied regards Geoff
Not running well at medium to high rpm
you say that it was running well was this before or after the installation of the pipes and rejetting I doubt that the problem is electrical more likely it is sucking air some where in the exhaust system check that the manifolds are firmly secured & that the the clamps secureing the mufflers to the pipes are also firmly secured finaly check that the jets have not worked themselves lose this can sometime happen if they were not tightened well at installation
Yamaha XVS650A will not start
have you emptied what after three months will now be stale fuel and filled with fresh also fuel has a nataural wax which adheres to internal carby parts ie jets needle &seat it may bethat the needle is stuck in the seat which wouldefectively block fuel flow int the carb this can often be remedied by simply tapping the float bowl a couple of times with lite a soft faced hamer or the handle of a screwdriver if the only hamer you have weighs 12lbs & comes with a three ft handle. failing that it will be nessecary to strip & clean the carby. It would also be advisable to check & clean the electrical conections at the fuel pump spray electrical contact cleaner is Ideal for this
