Iv got a 2005 yz 250 stock whats the best way to
hot it up? you mean make it go faster ? wow it's a realy quick bike right out of the box if the bike seems to be lacking power easy check is the air filter ...pristeen like so clean you would eat off it? 2005 ...when was the last time the top end was done ? about every 30 hrs for a two stroke half of that if you are racing it by racing I mean getting on a motocross track and riding with other guys about your skill level till you have arm pump that makes you wish you had stayed home. if the above conditions have been met then a pipe is probably your most logical choice don't wast time and money on the engine making it high compression and needing race fuel 100++ octane is a total waste for all but the elite riders and it makes the bike unreliable and fussy "like a hot blonde pretty to look at but high maintence" Good Luck & Ride safe
Clicking on up stroke of kick starter, wont start.
When an engine seizes you really have done great harm to it. My advice is to pull the motor and split the cases to inspect crank, and other parts. Invest in new cylinder & piston (w\rings) at the very least. It is more likely that you are going to need some new bearings and machine work. Sorry for the bad news...but that is exactly what seizing an engine is, bad news.
Powervalve on top is broken. yamaha 250yz cross.
Stuff happens on a race bike. The problem is that it can happen so fast, with your mind on other things during a race, you don't even realise somthing happened. Another bike probably kicked up a small rock and aimed it at your carb.
No spark on my yz 250 07 mod
when ever you don't have spark . the best thing to do is start tracing back to where it stops. if its not the plug make sure the wire is aok, if the wire is good, check ignition coil. these checks are better made with the help of a multimeter or ingition mate. both special tools are designed to fix those kinds of problems.
5th gear gone
Your clutch most likely is getting weak, replace the clutch plates and friction disks they come together as a pair pack, you need to drain the oil remove the clutch cover on the side of the motor and then remove center nut and using a hook tool unhook the 4, 5 or 6 springs that hold the clutch pack together they are pretty tough to remove and if you are not fairly mechanically inclined there may be issues with tools and skill sets. I hope you can replace the clutch pack yourself you will save $100.00 + if you can. Remeber to carefully put the plates in order as you disassemble the clutch, lay the parts out on a clean towel or rag in the order they come out and put the replacement parts in the same exact way an order the old ones came out, the challenge is to reattach the springs they can be quite achallenge here's a pointer use a pair of needle nose vise gripes to clamp hold of the spring ends and connect them to the cover plateon the outer clutch pack assembly.
Thrid gear in my yz 250 2001 seems to be slipping
For confirmation of a broken third gear tooth, drive slowly and shift up to third gear. Give the throttle a gentle rotation to slowly speed up. Listen for clunking sounds from the gearbox. If you hear it then you know there is a broken tooth. ALWAYS replace the gears in sets. If enough pressure was on a gear to break of a tooth then the same pressure was on the gear it was engaged into. Yes, only one of the two gears is missing a tooth but the other gear has a cracked tooth just ready to break as soon as you button up the engine after replacing only the toothless gear.
I am a bit removed from the cost of todays repairs so I suggest you give a call to your local dealer. If I had to guess, I would say about $600.00. Sorry for the bad news.
Top rating for this answer? Thanks!
2004 yamaha 250 yz .. is extreamly bouncy
Hi!
Replace the suspensions, buy new ones. I know that the old ones can be repaired, but its expensive and you never know how long they live.
New suspensions arent expensive to buy
Good luck

Hi M8!
The cost depens of if you go to an Yamaha dealer or you buy matched ones buy not yamaha original. In my opinion the matched ones are as good as the original. But i cant give you a fair price. Google them to get the best price

Piston rings
If the piston you are using has a pin in the ring grooves then the ends of the ring will be shaped to conform to the round shape of the pin. That will dictate how the rings go on.
If no pin exists, it doesn't matter which side us up.
Standard industry specs call for a 32/1 mix That equals 4 ounces per gallon of gas.
Please rate this solution. Thanks!
Won't start
at the top of the needle are 3 or more grooves that the clip is attached to at the top of the slide. If you have it in the wrong groove and then adjust you air/idle screw it can make your slide too low or high
1985 Yamaha YZ 250 fork oil capacity
1985 YZ250N, With the Fork off, Cap off, Spring out, take a clear school plastic ruler pore in 5W synthetic fork oil till it's 135mm from the top with the fork tube all the way down, till it just touches the ruler and the 135mm mark. Reinstall the spring, pacer, washer, Damping rod to cap, and install back in the clamps. I raced this bike for 18months in 1985/1986. Change the seals when they leak and toss the 38Kg Fork springs for 41Kg + springs to your riding weight. Over all was a good fork for it's time and Race tech can rebuild the fork and shock to your riding style and you're riding weight. I Miss the Fork flex on hard landings to my other New bikes. I still ride and Race the 85,YZ490 with the same fork.
