http://www.bikez.com/motorcycles/yamaha_xt_125_r_2006.phpFree Service Manual:http://bmanual.com/Yamaha-TTR125-2006-Service-Manual.htmlRoot Problem:Your bike is running too rich from over fueling! Won't build torque or rpm.
Steps:- Clean your air cleaner and spray it with light filter oil.
- Check your exhaust pipe make sure it's not plugged or restricted
- Gear ratio - too many teeth on primary sprocket?
- Install a new or clean spark plug for color testing. Want a cocoa brown.
- Jetting - Needle Valve - Raise the cir-clip a notch at a time lowering the needle into the pilot jet. Mostly effects the mid-range 35 - 60 mph.
- Jetting - Main Jet (should be OK) if it has been changed/increased to a larger orifice you may want to go back to stock. This usually effects speeds when the wire is tight and your running is WFO. Wound Flat Out.
Worse case scenario:If this bike has a lot of hours on it you may want to freshen up the top end. Re-ringing the piston and honing the cylinder head with a good cross hatch pattern works wonders to get power back. We used to do this every couple of races. If the cylinder is slightly oval shaped it needs a bore and next over piston and rings. (Most frequently a problem with 2 strokes) Hope this helps and keep us in the loop. TF
My xt125r battery wont hold
Remove the battery from the bike ( or at least remove the positive cable ). Charge the battery but make sure water covers the top of the plates in each cell. When charged, disconnect the charger and let the battery sit for two or three days with the red positive wire still disconnected. Now re-connect the red wire and see if the battery is discharged when 2 or 3 days have passed. If so, get a new battery. The batteries only last 1.5 to 2 years. How old is your battery? If the battery DOES have full power after the 2 or 3 days mentioned, start the bike and check the voltage across the battery terminals while running the engine at about 2000 rpm. The voltage should read around 14 volts. If not, there is a problem with the stator, regulator or rectifier. If your voltmeter does show 14 volts or so, and the battery still drains in 2 or 3 days, You will have to find what is draining it. Abraded wire grounding on the frame? Bad switch? Please rate my answer. Thanks.
The speed shown on the speedometer is not accurate
If the speedo gear is in the front wheel a different wheel would have different gear and mess up the speedo but I'm thinking the gear wouldn't mesh with the old speedo cable teeth.Check a shop manual for stock number of teeth on rear sprocket and tranny sprocket, that will tell the story. While your at it check the stock wheel size compared with what you got.Of course it could be bad speedo. There's springs in there that run needle, so?Maybe borrow one and try it out.Good luck.
Oil type
Use semi or fully synthetic 2 stroke oil for the engine & SAE20/40 or 10/40 in the gearbox
Hope this helps (if so please mark as very helpful)

Toook batter off my xt 125 now on speedo it is
If you took out the battery & then you have a problem it means that the speedo (I am assuming that it's digital) runs off the battery & not off the lighting coil.

Bike look maintance
ProClean is good stuff, but not worth the money. The only reason I had it was because I won a create of it at our clubs Supercross race, it's too expensive in my opinion.
I buy 40 litre containers of stuff called TFR, which stands for Traffic Film Remover, it basically is a detergent like ProClean, Simple Green and all the others, only it costs a fraction of the price and isn't deluted. This means you can delute it to your own strength for different causes. You can see it removing dirt as you watch, like someone said above. You can not use it pure on the bike however, it will make alloy parts go dull - as my buddy found out lol.
Yamaha XT 125r low fuel system not working
there should be a fuel level relay in the top of the gas tank. i havent been able to find an image yet, but in a car, it is located within the fuel tank, mounted to the top- usually inside the fuel filter assembly.
How do change back light bulb for a xt 125
Tail light or instrument panel back light? The tail light should be straight forward remove and replace. NEXT - Disconnect the battery! The instrument panel, remove the panel, the gauges will probably have a mount or cover, remove it and the bulbs should be rubber plugs in the bottom of the gauges.

It looks like the lens screws are under the fender, but you might have to remove the assembly. Two nuts attach it to the rear fender. Use WD40 to loosen, and wash area to remove mud and dirt. Hope that helps.
