Water pump problems on 660 grizzly
hi,if you have done all that and it still does it then it is not the problem,it sounds to me like the cooling system is pressurizing, and about the only thing that will do that is a leaking cylinder head gasket,i cant remember what the specs are, check with a yamaha dealer to find the correct psi reading for the cylinder when it is on the compression stroke, from memory should be btween 120-140 psi,but check first, then do a compression test,if the reading is say more than 10%below manufacturers specs then that will more than likely be the cause,,water will find the easiest path seals and hoses are the weak points in the system and thats where it will find its way out, hope this helps...cheers
Neutral light wont work 660 raptor
Make sure battery is good , Pull the wire off the neutrial light switch use another piece of wire to earth the it to frame or ground if the light come on you need a switch if not you have a wiring issue test with a multi tester for bad circuit.
I have a Yamaha Rhino
I am assuming that your Rhino turns over when trying to start it. Check for gas, shutoff valve in the run position, gas cap vent working, do you have spark? If you have old gas try draining all the gas from your tank. Gas that sits too long goes stale and has a tendency to gum everything up.

If old gas sat in the carb.s for more than a month it starts to dry up. As it drys up it leaves behind a varnish like film that stops up some very small ports and pin holes inside a motorcycle carburetor. It is also very hard to get out. You can try this before you pull the carb.s for a full cleaning.Use a produ ct called Seafoam, get as much gas out of the carb.s as you can. use a turkey baster and force the seafoam into your carb.s fuel line that you took loose from the fuel tank. Let that set for days 1 or 2. then hook up the fueltank with a mix of good gas and seafoam, (not a lot but enough to start it up. Move the cycle outside as the seafoam will make a lot of smoke if it does start up. If that does not clear up the problem you may have to pull the carb(s) and remove the blows to clean the inside. If you have to do that do not DO NOT MESS with any adjustment screws, DO NOT MESS with any adjustment screws. Just take the carb. bowl(s) off keep each one separate and number them so they do not get mixed up. do not mix up any internal parts. It is best to work on one at the time so nothing goes wrong. Work on a large sheet so if you drop a small part you can find it, you do not want to be missing some tiny spring or screw. Hope this Helps.
Throttle sticks at full
Sounds like the return spring got squashed. Take the top off of the carb, free up the spring and, if it isn't broken, reassemble carefully.
Try it afterwards, if it still sticks it could be the cable.

Howz your battery, is it fully charged? Charged it using a trickle charge to full capacity.
The fuses are they good or blwon? Replace if blown.
Check your sppark plug if not been replaced in the last 6-12 months
Im trying to find TDC
TDC is usually the last line as you rotate the engine(it is also usually marked but hard to see though the timing hole)
It your unsure place a pencil or similar down the spark plug hole and feel when it is at the top.
Raptor660 turns but wont crank
You have a bad starter one way clutch inside the motor. You fixed the external problem now you have to fix the internal one. If the starter motor is turning but the motor is not, then the one way clutch is slipping on the large starter gear next to the flywheel. You will have to replace both the one-way clutch attached to the flywheel and the large starter gear that fits into it to fix the problem. The contact surface on the gear has become rough or chattered and is no longer smooth , so the clutch will not grab it hard enough to turn the motor over and start it.
I have replaced the coil,
You don't mention the year and model...but here are some general ideas.
Most Yamahas have various safety interlocks designed into the wiring system....typically a neutral switch, a sidestand switch and a clutch switch, a tipover switch and a kill switch on the right handlebar.
The design basically is to prevent riding off with the sidestand down....so if the bike is in neutral, the neutral switch grounds to light your neutral lamp and allows for ignition and starter operation.
Is you place the unit in gear...if the sidestand switch senses the stand is still down, it kills the ignition and starter.
If the bike is in gear, starter will not operate, unless the clutch is pulled in and the clutch switch detects this happening.
Tip the bike over and the tipover switch kills the ignition and fuel pump if it has one.
So...is the igniter (black box/brain etc) getting supply voltage...if not check the ignition fuse, and the handlebar kill switch .
Is the neutral light working....if not...try starting with clutch in and sidestand up.
I need to know the
Turn air screws in till bottom clockwise.then turn out 1 1/2 turns and get running then with quad running adjust out till you get smoooth throttle responce do not make big moves 1/8 turns at a time.
Is it normal to have
Your Motorcycle is just showing signs of wear,,,,,,What year and make is it?,,,,No signs of water or any other foreign fluids in the crankcase?

Have completely rebuilt carburetor for
It sounds like one of your floats is not functioning properly and may be stuck, have a hole in it,or perhaps the float drop is too large allowing more fuel than needed to come through the system. Regardless you are not going to like this answer. They will have to come off and be checked and cleaned again. I've done a set of carbs as many as three times to get them right so I feel your frustration. Bottem line is they are frustrating, annoying, and fiddly, and they are either right or have to be done again. Compressed air is handy to help you blow out the tiny grot, and so is a set of needles to clean the emulsion tubes (if equipped). Good luck and be patient!
I have a 2001 660
Hows the oil in it? also i would suggest spark plug sitting that long with gas inside the tank isnt good for any bike but it was good to drain. If its not spark plug check all basic engine problems than maby bring to mechanic it may need rebuilt.
2001 raptor 660r with k&n
will need to fit larger pilot and main jet
size will depend where you are as colder climate will need to be richer than warm climate, normally 1 size up from std on pilot and 2 on main
