I have got a yamaha xvs 1100 dragstar classic 2005
check the fuel filters, it sounds to me as though there is a partial blockage which allows just enough to sustain tickover and starves the bike upon rev up. this is the first step to check and the most likely. good luck.

Can anyone help me with my 2000 xvs1100 custom
It does sound like a fuel filter or supply problem. Anyone can change a filter, just use common sense, like don't smoke while doing it,lol. I'd check the ignition points if it has them, might be electronic.
Oil filter
Hi .... Have a look at the front of the righthand engine casing, it's there. You have to take off the exhaust to get to it, allegedly a 1 1/2 job inc taking off the exhaust. There is an aftermarket kit for relocating the air filter, takes only 20 mins all in then from start to finish.

Tire saftey
A good patch job (removing the tire and repairing with a patch on the inside of it) I feel is much better than a plug, IMHO
I used to do allot of automotive tire repairs with patches and can't remember if any actually came apart or became defective. The plug may have a tendency to loosen and leak.
On the other hand, allot of people would replace the tire just to have peace of mind with regards to motorcycle tires. 1500 miles is close enough to justify replacement.
I have a 1992 yamaha
start with checking your fuses, if all three running lights are not working (front two and rear running/brake) then it should be power related. if your fuse is ok check you bulbs, it's ez and quick.
if you haven't found your power it's time to get out the test light. Start at the fuse block and work way to the lights when loss power you found your problem. If your fuse is blown we now that something made it blow, replace the bulb (if one is blown) and turn on the bike with a new fuse, if blows test for ground on the power wire this the bike off. a multimeter on the ohm setting is the easiest way to do this. now this can take a bit it there is a short in the wire take your time and you'll do fine.
M.Woodring
My xv 1100 smokes and fouls plug when it has right
If the oil level is correct, about the only thing remaining is worn rings. You can try another brand of oil and use a heavier oil, but it will always come back to the rings having to be changed in the end.

Go to the site below and do a free service manual download. They have a XVS 1100 manual 26th from the bottom of the Yamaha section. It doesn't say what year or language it is. Some of the manuals are German/French etc. I hope this helps.
