I have a 1980 Suzuki

clutch pushrod should just pull out as it should be a 2 piece clutch pushrod model, earlier models were 1 piece and you had to remove clutch cover and pressure plate to remove. hopefully the seal is ok.

1985 Suzuki Gs 550 L how to remove the airbox

This is for a 1980 GS450. I'm putting this here because while searching for my bike this came up so I'm spreading the method to help others. I'm commenting on this May of 2021 because after not finding out how to get my airbox back in I figured it out and wanted to spread this message on the places I found no luck on but came up for anyone attempting it. Long story short, you install in via the left side, the side with your relays. After the seat and carbs are off, unplug all of the wires from the harness and remove the electrical bracket so the left side is clean. Turn the airbox on its side and push the back end in first, between the motor and frame. If you try this from the other side that tranny fluid filler bolt sticks up soo high and will catch which is why you need to do this from the left side. Then as you are pushing it in rotate it around the side frame and you should be able to then twist it upright in place. You should really have to force it but unplugging wires and giving yourself room helps. At the time of this I did remove the rear fender and battery box too, but I don't think I needed to. Hopefully this helps someone in the future.

Why won't 1981 suzuki gs 550 bike won't start after riding it and it's warmed up?

hi glad i served a long time with wisco and used drag raced for them at one time sounds to me that your ignition is to far retarded which means the ignition will spark closer to (TDC) top dead center some people advanced the ignition 3 deg to stop the engine from smoking when they did away with 4 star fuel and gave us unleaded fuel doing this the performance is great and fast acceleration but it also make the engine run hotter than normal unless you have up jetted the carbs and fitted a non standard exhaust system the whole idea is get the fuel/air mixture in and out as fast as possible if you still have points take your points cover off and adjust your points baseplate undo the three screws that hold it in place and just move it about 3 deg towards the rear of the engine or may be you have a electronic ignition fitted if so do the same thing and advance the ignition 3 deg hope this works for you ride safe

My issue with my bike is constant fuel overflow,

Your petcock needs to be rebuilt (if parts available), or replaced, if it does not shut off the fuel. It also may not be saving reserve fuel , if gas is bypassing the ON position. You may also need a new fuel filter .Maybe add an additional in line filter. If you have replaced the float needles and the carbs are still overflowing you probably have a problem with rust in the tank. Have the inside of the tank cleaned or use a rust removal kit on the tank and see if this does not solve the problem. Try to avoid fuel tank liners if possible , they can cause more problems than they solve.
