Check the fuse...
if the fuse is ok - the switch could be bad. remove the left side fairing, the fan switch is located on top of the left side radiator, disconnect the wire, put the ignition on and ground the wire to the frame. if the fan comes on the switch is bad,replace it

How to remove radiator on 2000 Lincoln Continental

RADIATOR
Removal
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Drain engine cooling system as described.
3. Remove engine air cleaner.
4. Remove upper radiator hose from water bypass tube.
5. Remove radiator overflow hose from radiator and fan shroud.
6. Remove transmission oil cooler line from oil cooler inlet fitting.
7. Remove nuts retaining A/C condenser core to the radiator.
8. Disconnect engine control sensor wiring from the auxiliary electric cooling fan motors and the CCRM.
9. Raise vehicle on hoist.
10. Remove splash shield from lower radiator support and front sub-frame.
11. Remove lower radiator hose from radiator.
12. Remove oil transmission cooler line from oil cooler outlet fitting on radiator.
13. Remove retaining screws for power steering/transaxle oil cooler and position cooler aside.
14. Support fan shroud, radiator and A/C condenser core with a suitable jackstand. Remove lower radiator
support.
15. Position jackstand aside and carefully remove radiator and fan shroud.
16. Remove two retaining bolts for fan shroud at top of radiator and remove fan shroud from radiator.
17. Remove upper radiator hose from radiator.
NOTE: Loosen transmission oil cooler lines while securely holding radiator
connector with a back-up wrench.

P1491 - Radiator Fan Control Relay Circuit Open Or Shorted

When monitored: with the ignition key on, battery voltage greater than 10.0 volts and
the pcm requests the radiator fan to be turned on.
Set condition: an open or shorted circuit is detected in the radiator fan relay control
circuit.

Possible causes
radiator fan ctrl rly circuit wire harn intermittent defect
radiator fan ctrl rly circuit wire harn observable defect
radiator fan relay ground circuit open
rad fan relay control circuit open
radiator fan relay control circuit short to ground
rad fan control relay defective
pcm defective

Need instructions on how to replace the cooling

Removal & Installation To Remove:
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions in the beginning of this section.
  2. Remove or disconnect the following:
    • Radiator upper crossmember
    • Fan motor electrical connector
  3. Drain cooling system below the level of the upper radiator hose.
  4. Remove or disconnect the following:
    • Upper radiator hose from radiator
    • Radiator fan fasteners and upper clip
    • Fan assembly by lifting upward to clear radiator
To Install:
  1. Install or connect the following:
    • Radiator fan assembly
    • Upper clip and fasteners
    • Upper radiator hose to radiator
    • Fan motor electrical connector
    • Radiator upper crossmember
  2. Fill cooling system.

How do i remove radiator fan from my 2004 pt cruiser?

Removal & Installation
NOTE The fan motor, fan, and the shroud are serviced as an assembly.



CAUTION Do not open the radiator draincock with the system hot and under pressure, because serious burns from coolant can occur.


  1. Disconnect negative cable from battery.
  2. Remove battery and battery tray.
  3. Drain cooling system below upper radiator hose level.
  4. Remove grille.
  5. Remove upper radiator closure panel and center brace.
  6. Disconnect upper radiator hose from radiator.
  7. For turbocharger equipped vehicles: Remove radiator inlet neck.
  8. Hoist vehicle.
  9. Disconnect radiator fan electrical connector (.
  10. Remove the two lower and left side radiator fan screws and.
  11. Lower vehicle and remove the remaining radiator fan attaching screws.

    WARNING Care should be taken not to damage the radiator cooling fins and tubes during fan removal.

  12. Remove radiator fan by lifting up from the engine compartment.

Radiator fan mounting points

To install:
  1. Install the radiator fan into position on the radiator.
  2. Hand-start all radiator fan fasteners.
  3. Tighten all radiator fan retaining screws to 55 inch lbs. (6 Nm).
  4. Connect the radiator fan electrical connector.
  5. Carefully lower the vehicle.
  6. For turbocharger equipped vehicles: Inspect radiator inlet neck O-ring. Replace if necessary. Install radiator inlet neck. Torque fasteners to 55 inch lbs. (6 Nm).
  7. Connect the upper radiator hose to radiator. Align hose and position clamp so it will not interfere with the engine or the hood.
  8. Install upper radiator closure panel and center brace.
  9. Install grille.
  10. Install battery tray and battery.
  11. Connect cables to battery.
  12. Fill cooling system.

Want to replace the radiator on my 1997 ford thunderbird

Radiator Aluminum Core, Crossflow — 3.8L (Base) and 4.6L Engines
Removal
  1. Drain engine cooling system as described. Disconnect upper radiator hose (8260) and lower radiator hose (8286) and radiator overflow hose (8075) from the radiator (8005). Disconnect the transmission oil cooler inlet and outlet lines from the radiator.
  1. Remove cooling fan motor,fan blade (8600) and fan shroud (8146) assembly as described.
  1. Remove radiator upper bracket retaining bolts and remove bracket. Lift radiator from vehicle.
Installation
  1. Position the radiator into the vehicle. Install upper brackets and tighten bolts securely.
  1. Connect the transmission oil cooler lines to the transmission oil cooler fittings.
  1. Install cooling fan motor, fan blade and fan shroud assembly as described.
Engine Cooling Fan Motor, Fan Blade and Fan Shroud Assembly, Electrical Removal
  1. Disconnect (pull apart) the male-female cooling fan motor wiring connector at the side of the fan shroud (8146). Remove the male terminal connector retaining clip from the fan shroud mounting tab.
  1. Remove two fan shroud upper retaining bolts at the radiator tanks.
  1. Lift cooling fan motor/fan blade (8600)/fan shroud assembly past radiator (8005), disengaging fan shroud from two lower retaining clips.
Installation
  1. Follow removal procedure in reverse order.
  1. Tighten fan shroud retaining bolts to 5.2-7.2 Nm (46-63 lb-in).

    How do i replace the radiaor? on this 2005 Hyundai do i remove the intake cover, then the cooling fan, the the motor mount? what?

    Below are instructions and a diagram for removing the radiator from your Santa Fe. There's nothing involving the motor mounts. Best of luck and please post back with any questions or just to rate the solution. Greg

    1. Drain the cooling system. Remove the radiator cap to speed draining.
    2. Remove the inlet hose from the radiator.
    3. Remove the transmission oil cooler lines from the retainer clip at the bottom of the cooling fan shroud.
    4. Remove the fan shroud clip from the condenser tubes.
    5. Remove the bolt that connects the fan shroud to the condenser hold down bracket.
    6. Remove the air deflectors from the top of the radiator.
    7. Remove the cooling fan shroud bolts.
    8. Remove the coolant reservoir hose from the radiator overflow neck.
    9. Remove the radiator upper support brackets and bolts that connect to the fan shroud.
    10. Disconnect the engine cooling fan motors electrical connectors.
    11. Remove the cooling fan motors electrical harness from the fan shroud clips.
    12. Remove the cooling fan shroud.
    13. Remove the outlet hose from the radiator.
    14. Disconnect the transaxle oil cooler pipes from the radiator.
    15. Tilt the top of the radiator rearward.
    16. Remove the condenser hold down bracket from the radiator.
    17. Lift the condenser from the mounting tabs on the radiator and position the condenser aside.
    18. Remove the radiator.
