My 2005 Honda vtx R vapor locks on me. I crank it up in the garage let it idle, back it out of garage, put it in gear and it shuts off and will not crank no way shape or form.. Take the gas line off the pet ****, turn the key on and turn it over and gas shoots out of the pet ****. Put gas line back on pet ****, and motor will start. Sometimes it will run a day or two before doing it again.

There is a safety switch on the kick stand of that bike that keeps it from running while in gear. It sounds like that switch is bad and killing the bike as soon as you put it in gear.
if you are able to select gears without the motor stalling I doubt that your clutch is burned I would suspect that you may have sheared the output shaft in the gearbox this is a major job & without the correct tools & knowledge should be entrusted to a qualified technician
