Your bike apparently has a safety mechanism where the engine shuts off while in gear, if the side stand is extended. The wire you fixed may not have been fixed properly. There is a switch at the end of that wire which senses the kick stand position. See if that switch is working properly. You can bypass the switch by shorting the wire, but remember it's a safety mechanism and it's better to keep it fixed.
I dont have your bike but have had this problem on a few bikes, for me it was the reservoir or master cylinder. pump your clutch for about 30 seconds before you shift into first if that works rebuild your reservoir failing that replace your master cylinder. I would wait for someone more knowledgeable to answer before you replace your master cylinder though.
Sounds like the battery has lost its capacity, also if you have the kickstand down when you put it into gear the engine will shut off. Try this, put jumper cables on the battery, hook it up to a car that is running, start the bike, put the kickstand up while holding the bike up and holding the clutch in, put it in gear. If it continues to run, disconnect the cables and see if it stalls. If it does, you need a new battery! Please rate this as helpful if it was. And write back a testimonial and let me know how you made out. Thanks Bob.
hello and welcome
it seems that you may have a faulty side stand switch. the side stand needs to be in the up position before the bike can be started off in gear. but if not the side stand contains a saftety switch that shuts the bike off when put into gear. to verify this you can check for spark when the bike is being turned over in gear with the clutch held in.
there should be two wires associated with this switch. a green, and green with white. so when the stand is up these two wires are connected, and the switch can be tested as such. thank you.
