Daytona 650 Electric Problems

Has any had any problems with there 2005 Daytona 650's? I have had some problems with the relay's. My blinker relay had fallen out a while after I got my bike. Just recently my fan stopped coming on. I know the fan works because I jumped it by bypassing the relay. I got a new relay on order but I do not feel 100% sure that is what the problem is. Has any else had any cooling issues? Whether it be the fan not coming on or the Thermostats going out or just compter problems in general?

I had the same problem. The indicator relay fell out on a trip. The price for a relay from the Triumph agents in SA is just on R 1000.00. How can this be justified. I need the Hella part number to source one another way. Please help.

Those stupid blinker relays fall out eventually because they are encased in a thin rubber sleeve that wears away with vibration. Mine fell out numerous times, but I was lucky that each time I was at a stop light and noticed it in time to pick it up off the ground. If you just buy a new one you will eventually be in the same situation. I had the guys at the dealership zip-tie that bastard to either the frame or inside of the fairings. I have not had any problems with it since. The original set up is a stupid design flaw.

Your problems sound more related to the relay block than the ECU or anything else. As far as I know, Daytona 600s and 650s are as close to bulletproof as any bike made.

2005 Triumph Daytona 650 squeak?

Question edited for clarity and spelling.
Question moved to model category.

This is a situation where you need to hear the noise. In a car it can be slipping belts, or water pumps. On a bike I have heard is as a leak in the exhaust gasket. Hot gases blowing out 'squeaked. Other ideas here, it is a known issue.

05 triumph daytona blinker relay

Most any 4 or 5 prong relay will work for your turn signals. Best bet is to call a dealer and get the part number,or buy or download yourself a service manual, which will have this information. You can download manuals from the net for as little as $5.00.
Good Luck!

Triumph daytona 650 05 model having problems charging the old and new battery told it could be the rectifier /regulator how can I check

I have a good idea, this is if you change the batt and it did not charge try with a volt meter re on the + being red lead B- being minus set to dc volt set to 20 volt check charging system this being 14+ volt is the reading to getand also rev engine to moderet rpmto see if it drop slow or fastif it drops to 12 and below may be reg, now find the three like wire to the reg test for A/C volt 65 and higher at 5000 RPM that will also indecate reg that is if there are no burnt wire which will be see when you go to check the voltage readings. Have fun

I own a triumph 2005 daytona 650.could anyone tell me if the engine light, flashing oil display and oil light being apparent, is normal when turning the key,not actually starting it

Not sure about the 650, but on my 04 Daytona 600, is does the same thing, this is the engine check lights, and oil low lights being checked. IF you tried to start the bike it wouldnt, until this sefl test is complete.

Hope this helps.

I have a triumph daytona 650 speedometer problem

Sorry I don't have a solution, but I have a similar problem. At idle, I run about 14.2 volts and it stays that way up to around 5k, don't go higher in my garage. Anyway, my problem is when my fan kicks on. I have seen my volts drop into the low 10's when fan kicks on. If it is hot out and I am in dealing with lots of stop and go traffic, my fan will kick on a few times...normal so far. But, if this happens too many times without a good stretch of riding in between, my speedo will kick off or go to 188 on the gauge when the fan kicks on. As soon as I pull out the RPM's increase and all is well, but sometimes, I will actually loose my speedo all together. If I shut the bike off for a minute then start it back up, the speedo works fine. Any ideas???

Gearbox noise daytona 650 noisy 2nd and 3rd then wine in top

I have not seen on your bike, but the noise is a bearing problem, it causes the gears to not engage correctly and that creates noise.

Start

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Almost always, if you would follow the big red cable from the battery's + terminal, it would go to one terminal of the starter relay. The other terminal of this relay would then go to the starter motor. It would look something like the image below.

Good luck and thank you for using FixYa.
