Older Vespas without separate Oil-tanks need a premix of 1:50 oil in the gasoline - but yours is an automatic oil-mixer type.
check the oil-level-glass under the seat near the choke.
it must be full of oil - the oil tank can hold about 1 liter of 2-stroke oil. How much oil did you fill in?
Probably the previous owner removed the oil supply tube and filled always an oil-gasoline premix. You better ask him about it. If the tube was removed then there was no oil supplied to your engine and it got stuck and the engine bearings are blown.
i have just bought a 1988 vespa px 125

SOURCE: I used 2 stroke engine
No, you will have no problems at all. In fact if you ride in very wet conditions your oil will perform better than normal 2 stroke oil. But seriously though, unless you are getting the marine oil at a very good price, you could just as well use a regular good quality 2 stroke oil, it is a few cents cheaper on the normal market. SOURCE: what kind of transmission oil
You should use [Non-Detergent] SAE 30 motor oil according to this site:

Good luck

The poor performance of the engine can makes these faults to come up. we need to check from the fuel tank , check if the fuel contains impurities and specially water. If so this can come up when the tank gets empty and produce misfiring, splutter and jerks. So a check on the fuel filter will confirm this as it will be seen, if so remove and clean tank and change the filter. We then come to the carburetor as the fuel mixing is determined in this section. You need to have the carburetor removed and all ports washed and cleaned if there is traces of dirt or clogging noticed in the fuel chamber. Secondly we need to check on the electrics. The spark intensity is most important .Remove the plug to check gap and condition of plugs. The black plug indication will confirm that the performance is bad whereas a fully fired plug without deposits must be the ideal view. Check the HT coil and the HT wires, if the intensity is bad the ignition system must be checked. DO NOT CHANGE any part without a confirmation--- trying with a replacement from another vehicle. Finally the LT trigger to the coils must be checked be it from the platinum points or an electronic ignition unit. The voltage of the trigger must be high to give the best HT output. Finally check the Timing on the engine. Also check compression of engine since you experience starting fault. Thank you for using Fixya
