SOURCE: engine runs for about 10 minutes then cuts out and

Hi!

It sounds to me as if the motor is attempting to eat its own exhaust.

An easy way to check is to remove the motor cover and start it. USE CAUTION HERE! If the motor runs normally with the cover removed, you can be sure there's an exhaust leak. Our motor had the smallest bit of corrosion where the exhaust coupling bolted to the block and was leaking. It was fairly difficult to spot, but we finally found the problem.

Hope this helps.

SOURCE: Change question

sounds like a fuel venting problem. Loosen the cap to the gas can and see if that works.

Then (if that fixed it) you will find the vent built into the cap is sticking shut or you forgot to open it.

SOURCE: Johnson 4hp starts first pull runs 5 minutes dies will then only run with choke on

You may have left the fuel vent closed. If working, put a clear plastic fuel line between the fuel pump and the carb. Look for bubbles indicating an air leak between the tank and the carb.

On a rear occasion you can have some varnish flakes floating round the fuel bowl. But these tend to cause random problems than the "about 5 min" problems you are having.

Hi there i can start it up with full choke it starts it runs it clears its self i push the choke off it runs fine for about 40 seconds then its like it starts to run on 2 or 3 cilinders chokes up then dies...

check your carburatures. Sounds like they could use a tune up. Seems as if they are not getting enough fuel after it is warmed up, that is why it runs good when choked. Also check your air filter first.

Runs first 30+ sec then bogs out/dies when throttle pressed

If still under warranty have it serviced (authorized dealer not Joe's lawn mower). There should not be a fee (paid by Husqvarna). There have been carburetor problems. If you adjust it your warranty will likely be void; Joe's small engine service just as likely to void any warranty. Are you using a fresh 40:1 fuel oil mix. The will not start with choke set is normal. Start procedure in your OM says listen for sputter and disengage choke. Almost all new saws have similar start procedure.
Start Procedure
Cold:
  1. Ignition on/off to on.
  2. Set compression release – optional step even if saw is equipped with a compression release.
  3. Pull (close) choke, set fast idle (done when choke closed on some saws); pull starter and listen for an attempt to start. once heard (usually two pulls; no more than 4).
  4. Set compression release – optional step even if saw is equipped with a compression release.
  5. Push (open) choke pull starter until it starts. (usually first pull).
Warm:
  1. Ignition on/off to on.
  2. Set compression release – optional step even if saw is equipped with a compression release.
  3. Pull (close) choke, set fast idle (done when choke closed on some saws) – Do not pull with choke closed.
  4. Push (open) choke, pull starter until it starts. (usually first pull).

Yamaha EF1000is, Will no run without choke on

It is starved for fuel. PROBABLY needs to have carbureator cleaned and adjusted OR the fuel filter may be clogged.

MOWER RUNS FIVE MINUTES THEN STOP AFTER IT WARMS UP

Check your automatic choke ... a cold mower needs more choke, and the auto-choke should release when the motor warms and runs smoothly. If the choke is sticking, the motor will die when it gets warmed up, then start again after it cools down.

Tractor won't stay running

You will have to pull the carburetor off and rebuild it. This means cleanig and adjusting. This should help your cause a bit. donnyb60
