It takes too many kicks to start my bike
SOURCE: 1987 rm 125 starts and idols fine, bogs out on take off!!!!
Pull the slide out of the throat of the carb then move the clip at the top of the needle down one notch, two if needed. This will richen the low end fuel mix.
Need a "very helpful" rating asap. Thanks!

several possible reasons for this, all fixable. Replace the spark plug being sure the new one is the right one and also properly gapped. If you don't have a manual, any auto parts store can look up this information. Second, change the air filter. Adequate air is necessary for a quick start. Third, change the fuel filter. Fourth get a bottle of a fuel additive called seafoam. Follow the directions on the bottle and add the right number of ounces to the fuel. Once you have run a couple of tanks of seafoam enhanced fuel through the engine your problem should be solved.

I see: you changed the plug because it was backfiring.
Does it back fire when you let OFF the throttle after revving it, or does it back fire while being revved?
If it does it when you let off then Ollie's suggeston might do it. If that doesn't do it then check for dirt in your pilot jet.
If it back fires when revved up high could be dirt in your main jet.

sounds like you are getting too much fuel. there is a float in the carb that shuts off the flow when the bowl is full. you will have to make sure its still attached and properly working. usually they do not just go out of spec unless someone messed with it. get a manual on your bike and it will explain how to do this procedure. also check to make sure the needle valve is in its seat and didn't fall out. if you need help doing this write me back and ill walk you through it

The TTR-125 Carburetor's Run Lean by design. Mine had the same issues till I found a post on Thumpertalk.com on Carb and air box Mod. This is a good starting point on gets; 110 and 112.5 main and 17.5 pilot. But you must check spark plug coloring to make sure the jetting is correct. Check spark plug after the bike has been ridden for a wile. I also took out the stock baffle and replaced it with exhaust tip and now it fires up after a few kicks and worms up in a few minutes.
