Connected battery on 2001 yamaha vstar 1100 classic backwards, now it wont do anything, checked small fuses on left of bike, is there another fuse that could be blown that is preventing bike from doing anything and where is it located

do you mean remove the wheel? tires are best left to a shop to do as they have the machine. drive shaft yes? undo all bolts thru frame to final drive casing. slacken wheel nut but do not remove spindle, pull wheel back and out of the frame the drive shaft comes with it, tace out spindle and now lift final drive from wheel, there may be a spacer which might fall out. done deal..

I had the same problem 2001 XVS1100 Custom
this is a starter issue Over time the starter on this bike twists when its under a load.
Look at the two bolts holding the starter on if they are not straight across then its twisted. turn starter back in line with a pair of big channel locks and try to start this should do the trick if this works i would recommend taking the two bolts out and bend them back straight or replace and reinstall starter this should fixya problem

Chances are it is the rectifier/regulator which is a sealed unit that has to be replaced if faulty. A bad one can cook your battery as well as your light bulbs and wiring. To check this connect a VOM across your battery terminals while the bike is running. If normal you should see about 13.5 volts. If your voltage climbs up to the 18 to 22 volt range or higher you must replace the part before you do further damage. Also be aware of the dangers of over charging a battery as it can explode and cause personal injury. If your battery has been cooked you will have smelled sulfuric acid and the battery will become hot to the touch. If that is the case you will also have to replace the battery as well as it will no longer hold a charge. When this happens the battery will bulge and this is called plate bow. By replacing both the battery and the rectifier/regulator you should be as good as new. In very rare instances it could be the stator which could cost a lot more but chances are its just the rectifier/regulator. I've seen them for very cheap prices on Ebay.

Sounds like it may be drawing air around the intake somewhere. Let it idle and spray around carefully with wd-40 until it speeds up. This will reveal the leak.

SOURCE: 1100 yamaha 2003 vstar classic gas tank remove

1) Make sure your fuel petcock is closed, then detach the gas line coming off it (left underside of tank)
2) Remove the back seat (single acorn nut on rear fender)
3) Remove the front seat (two allen bolts at the back of seat)
4) There are two metric 12mm bolts under the front seat that hold the tank down. Remove them. The tank should be sitting loose on bike, but connected by some wires
5) Disconnect the white wiring harness under the bike. Tank is now totally free to remove.
6) Pull tank up and back at the same time, it will slide off the two rubber mounts at the front.

sounds like a problem i had with my v star if u can charge it and it starts and runs for a bit then dies again check the rectifier which charges the bike

My 2006 vstar 1100 classic wont start. i checke the fuses and kick stand switch. it is in neutral. when i tried to start it the other day, i turned over like it had a weak batter , as i havent ridden in...

could also be your starter relay. Try jumping the terminals on the relay and see if the bike attempts to start if so then you have forund your problem.
