My bike keeps stalling while driving down the road. I leave it in gear and the compression starts it back up but it's becoming troublesome.

Last summer I didn't have any problems with the bike but it just recently started having this problem. It stalls about 5 to 6 times but then starts back up almost Immediately. This bike has extremely reliable till now. Any type of assistance would be appreciated. Thanks

This morning when driving it to work it stalled several times. When coming home from work this evening I had no issues at all. I'll try disconecting the battery and see if that helps. Thanks!

I disconnected the battery with no luck. The battery is in good shape, it was replaced last year with brand new gel battery that has good cranking power. The bike is now in the shop after it completely died on me for about 10 mins. this morning driving to work. I made it to work by keeping the rpm's between 2500 and 3000. We'll see what the BMW shop says since the bike was fine when I drove it to them thisafternoon.

SOURCE: Can't get the revs below 3500rpm

Remove the negative battery connection and leave it disconnected for about 15 minutes. That should reset your engine management system. I would try a different battery if you have one handy, or maybe put yours on a battery charger. For the problem to appear suddenly after six weeks without running the bike my best guess is the battery is not functioning properly.

Good luck.

SOURCE: staling out

It sounds to me that you may have a timing issue. If your r100rt is a 1980 or older there is higher chance that this is the problem because it has points ignition which can and will come out of adjustment from time to time. It say reset the timing, it should be the issue.

SOURCE: Clutch problem

check the level of the clutch fluid in your resevoir, maybe a slow leak that is allowing the chutch to release. When was the last time the fluid was changed?

Bike jumps when on release of clutch in first gear and stalls

The clutch plates are probably rusted. I ride the bike with the clutch lever pulled in until very warmed up and keep blipping the throttle at low speeds in first gear this sometimes releases the stuck clutch.

2007 Road King Classic stalls unexpectedly when driving...no sputtering, just shuts down...starts back up whether stationary or driving...but no warning about cut off

Will the bike start up without turning off? If you have to turn ignition off then on again before it will start it may be the bank angle sensor gone faulty. This will set NO error codes in memory as it is NOT a recognised fault. ECU simply thinks bike has fallen over and shuts engine down.

1980 Suzuki Gs450L won't start. I stalled out pretty bad in 4th gear and it won't start back up after. Bike won't even crank over, just makes a clicking noise. Any ideas?

pull the plugs then crank motor you may find one cylinder full of gas and that will keep it from cranking, if it cranks without the plugs allow it to dry for a bit , make sure plugs are dry then install and hopefully GO!

1988 ford ranger 2.9 ltr engine stalls while driving , restarts in a few minutes usually

There are several possibilities, but based on how you described the symptoms I suggest a profile igniton pickup. On these systems the failure usually begins as dropping a cylinder occasionally, like a misfire, mostly during high underhood temperatures, will manifest into stalling and finally into a stall with no resart condition. Symptoms are most likely to occur in summer. The pickup is inside the distributor and the distributor must be disassembled to install it,the trickiest part being the removal and installation of the distributor drive gear. They are iron and easily broken. The simplest solution is another distributor. The ignition modules typically do not fail in this manner, but this is classic for the pickup coil. A code for loss of pip signal should be present, it is possible for a code to not be present, though very unlikely. Having worked on these systems for years this would be my first area of diagnosis.

Had bike overhauled when leaving shop it backfired loud then dies while going down road but starts right back up also has started not wanting to start in gear have to put in neutral

The backfiring and dying while going down the road sounds like an ignition problem. A wire loose somewhere or something temporarily shorting the system out. If the engine is hard to start in gear, your clutch needs to be adjusted and it's probably dragging. Or there's too much oil in the primary making the clutch drag.

Good Luck

Why does the bike stall when i put it in gear

check the side stand it may, as a lot of bikes do, have a switch to stall the bike when the stand is down to stop you pulling away with it down. these get covered in road dirt and water and do go faulty. hope this helps.

Thanks for all the tips on this CRF250R Honda but we are really getting tired of trying to kick start this guy, wearing us out HELP please. We tried cleaning the carb, checked plug for spark & last...

i dont know what all you have tried so far, but check the fuel filter, usally in the tank above petcock. the compression seems fine as you had to bump start it in third gear. you can feel the compression of a bike when pushing it in gear, like a bike with bad compression you could push in first without wheel locking
