I have a 98 Suzuki Intruder1500 LV. My problem is that after I ride foe @20 miles it shuts down. I have replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter, and gas cap, and it still shuts down. When it shuts down the fuel pump is running but will not restart until i turn the key switch off and then back on at which point the fuel pump will run a few seconds to build pressue and then it will start and will run for @1 mole and then will shut down and i will have to repete the process to get it started.

I would recomend checking to be sure the fuel and vacum lines n the tank are installed correctly, Open the fuel filler and start the bike and see if it has any change on the problem, if so you have a vacum issue.

No the fuel pump will not fail more than once. When a fuel pump goes out it just goes. Will not work after that what so ever. Sounds like bad gas lines. I had this problem. I replaced my old gas line after the old one cracked when I did this I cut the new on to long. When I put my tank back on the old one pinched. It would run fine for a few min then sputter and die as the gas in the line ran out. I let it sit for a min and more gas filled the line and would start the process over. Try replacing the fuel lines and make sure they are cut to the right length and do not kink when the tank is on. It could also be a dirty petcock. I had let my bike sit for 6 months while in another state and the gat tank got dirty somehow. I got it running and same problem putters and dies. Neighbor took out the petcock and used an air hose to clean it out and it worked like new.

I believe there was a recall on the 2007 for exactly that problem (something to do with the clips breaking on the fuel line causing that exact problem).
Good luck!

check the fuel filter it sounds like it's pluged and causing too much back presure this is causing an over load in the fuel pump causing it to stop working or to presure lock

2001 Suzuki VS 800 Intruder quits running while riding

Generally with these types of fuel systems the breather hole in the gas cap gets gummed up and not allowing the fuel to flow freely through the lines. Try leaving the gas cap open and see if it runs fine. It so, clean the cap in solvent.

Engine shut down after about 20 miles of riding, like it's out of gas. It will start back up after a few minute but only runs for a few miles then shuts down again.

Possible solution. Check the following 3 items: 1.Gas (or diesel) filter dirty and needs replacement. 2. Fuel pump worn and not delivering correct pressure. 3. Dirty gas tank- blocked pipe at exit of tank.

I'm pretty sure my fuel filter is bad on my 1998 dodge neon was just wondering where in the car it is located. Thank you

Fuel filter is located inside the gas tank and it cannot be replaced in alone. You have to replace the fuel pump as an whole

My 1988 Ford Bronco 5.0 has been stalling / acting like its run out of gas. (Has always run great before) I know it has plenty. Today 7.28.10 It stalled twice, first time it did it had at least 1/4 tank,...

You might have what is called vapor lock. The fuel gets so hot that it boils in the fuel pump or the lines. Do this test spay water on the fuel pump to cool it off . ( this only works for a few minutes before it gets to hot and vapor locks again ) If you can Keep the engine heat Off the lines and the Fuel pump it might help. If you have metal fuel lines near a heat source rap them with something such as rubber fuel line sliced down the middle to keep the heat off them If you are using an aftermarket electric fuel pump relocate it down low near the gas tank ( they work better pushing than pulling ) away from any heat source such as exhaust If your using the stock fuel pump try replacing it with a new one it might be getting weak Replace the fuel filter while your at it.

JUST PUT GAS IN BIKE,RIDE FOR 2 MILES.THEN BIKE SHUTS DOWN.THEN WAIT 10 MINS OR SO BIKE CRANKS UP AND RIDE FOR 1 MILE AND SHUTS DOWN AGAIN.DO YOU THINK ,I GOT BAD FUEL? OR THE FUEL FILTER IS DIRTY PLEASE...

Could be the fuel filter but I'd bet money on the fuel tank vent. Loosen your fuel cap and take a ride. Don't take the cap off, just loosen it a bit. If that cures the problem, buy a new fuel cap.

Fuel pump relay

If this happens every time you start your truck and it shuts off the same each time, you just might have a dirty fuel filter only allowing so much gas pass through until it clogs once again. I once had a chevy van, when I would drive it, would go a few miles and engine would shut down.   I would wait 10 or 15 minutes, it would start up and allow me to drive a few more miles then shut down again.  I changed the fuel filter, It was fine after that.
