Ok so here is the deal, got the bike for a super good deal. It ran fine the first couple months. Then stopped running so i had to replace the stator. Once again it ran fine for about 4 rides. But now the problem is that it will start and run with the choke on, but once i let the choke off it just pops, sputters and dies. Cleaned the carb and adjusted the fuel screw but still no change. I even went and bought a larger mid jet for it but it did nothing. Does this sound like another electrical problem? How do i fix it?

Recheck the float level, adjust if necessary.
Reblow the jets with compressed air.
If you have tampered with the air-mixture screw you will have to reset it too.
Standard setting is all the way in ...slowly as not to damage the tip, thn outwards 2 & a half turns to 3.
Hope this helps!
SOURCE: 2005 kx250f wont idle.will idle fine w/choke
the fact that it idles with the choke on indicates that fuel mixture is the problem here remove the mixture screw completely check that the o ring seal is not damaged & that the end of the needle is not worn or bent if either of these conditions are obviouse replace the damaged or worn parts general rule of thumb with mixture adjustment is 1&1/2 to 2 turns out give it a try

First of all double check that the choke plunger is not malfunctioning . If it is held into the carburetor with a plastic nut, the nut may crack and allow fuel to leak past the plunger. When you open the exhaust and add fuel you may also have to open the the intake as well, short test run with the air cleaner out would tell you if you need to get more air into the carburetor. If more air helps , you may want to change to a K&N air filter or a foam style filter to get more air flow. Your machine also runs two spark plugs per cylinder. Some people do not realize this, and only change two plugs during a tune up. That means they are running two old plugs that could have a wide gap or even be fouled . Poor idling can also be attributed to poor spark. You should unscrew all the spark plug caps off the end of the wires and check them with a voltage meter. They should OHM out at 5000 OHMs. If they OHM higher or lower than 5000 replace them. Bad plug caps will cause a cylinder to run like the spark plug is fouled at low RPM's. If you have checked the carburetor with the bowl off than you know if the slow jet has fallen out or if is still in place, that could also cause the problem you describe. Good luck I hope this helps.
SOURCE: my 2005 yz250f will not idle and backfires on
check valve clearances first. will cause backfire and ide probs
a leaking exhaust gasket or low ignition voltage will cause backfire
SOURCE: bike starts and runs fine with full choke, once
Same problem, runs fine with choke on, but when i touch the throttle it bogs out, sounds like its not getting any fuel. I cleaned out the carb and used fresh gas, but the problem persists. I'm going to try cleaning the air filter and getting a new plug. If thats not it it could be eletrical.
