SOURCE: 2003 883 sportster, how do you drain the engine

warm the bike up ,then if you look in between the rear wheel and the engine case on the left hand side of the bike (if you are sat on it ) on the underside you will see a black plate (part of the frame ) and it will have a black hose on it secured by a jubilee clip , remove the jubilee clip place a oil drain pan underneath it and pull the hose away from the frame and the engine oil will drain out .
hope this helps
kind regards

SOURCE: I have just got a 2005 883 hd sportster please

The drain hose attaches to the frame at the bottom rear. Make sure the bike is at running temp before draining the oil. I use 20-50 mobile 1 full syn, 3 quarts. You must put 4 ozs in the filter to prime the system. After you drain the oil make sure you look in the oil tank before you refill it there is a tendency not to drain all of the old oil. If it dosen't all drain use a turkey baster to **** out as much of the old oil as you can. When you refill the tank you want the oil to come about midway between the lines on the dip stick. If you fill it to the top line you will get a lot of blow by out of your air filter.

SOURCE: Not just changing oil, but is there gear oil to

Yes, there is oil in primary and transmission of your Sporty. To drain the oil, look for the drain plug on bottom of rear section of the primary area, back near the large round section of the primary. Drain the oil here and replace the plug. Add the oil at the top primary chain inspection port, large plug with a large "screwdriver" slot or two small bolts in it. Add 32-36 ounces of H-D "primary lubricant for Sportsters".

How do i drain the oil on a 1993 sportster 883 hugger

Harley has changed the location of the oil drain on Sportsters so many times it's hard to keep up with. Look on the left hand side down low on the frame behind the primary. The hose simply plugs onto a stub on the frame.

I just purchased a 2003 883 100 anniverssary sportster. t was parked for a few years. i change the filter and put new oil, new battery and spark plug. when i started the bike the oil cap blew out and it...

Excess motor oil that blew out the oil cap ,when you've parked for a long time the oil in the tank will drop down in the crankcase, then when you start the motor it will go back in the oil tank and then overflow the oil level...You must have to drain the oil tank again and refill it at the correct oil level....

I have a 2002 hugger 883 i am getting fuel into the oil resivor tank.i change the oil and added the correct amount but started it up and it filled the resivor all the way up to the top andit smells like...

Sounds as if the float is not closing all the way and allowing gas to keep flowing threw the carb and is sitting in the cylinder and passing the rings and getting into the oil. try adjusting the float level. This is a command problem.

883 sportster, got the seat off, see the positive

No, you don't have to take the oil tank off you just need the right tools. I use a long Phillips screwdriver if the bolt has the provisions for it's use. If not, I a 1/4" drive extension with a 10mm socket on it and a rachet. Works for me. Always disconnect the negative side first. Then connect your battery tender wire to the positive terminal. Reconnect the negative side last. This my keep you from arcing the battery to the oil tank and maybe popping a hole in the tank.

Oil cap blasting off

Your crankcase is not breathing right. Re-Check your lines going into the air filter back plate, make sure the lines are not kinked in any way. Also make sure the lines are not dry rotted.
