I have a 2003 nissan xterra. When I turn the a/c on the fan makes a loud noise. It basically sounds twice as loud as it usually does. The air conditioner still works but not as cool as it was before. A neighbor that is a mechanic said he thinks the radiator fan clutch has gone bad. Does this sound correct?

I had the same problem as well...don't know the name of the part, but it was in the glove box and it was really cheap...works great now...i did it myself when my husband was at work...so you know it is easy to change!!! Good luck...

Maybe a faulty switch, check wetter or not you have power to the blower switch.

this maybe the motor on the fan or the bearings in the fan wearing out or the bearings in the a/c clutch
i had same problem turned out it was the bearings in ac compressor pulley.cut ac belt off. get new bearings installd in pulley.
