Hi i have a 2001 Yamaha fazer 600 which i have only just bought, the problem i am getting is that when i am driving and open the throttle quickly... i get a jerking through the bike as if something is making it hold back. i have replaced the coil packs anlong with the spark plugs so i know it cant be a misfire, it is as if it is coming from the front sprocket area. when i put the bike on the centrestand, and put it into 1st.... the chain seems to jump about and make a horrible noise like a banging. there is also a clicking noise when i spin the rear wheel. i am really stuck for ideas. Thanks
SOURCE: How to remove front sprocket?
socket size is 36mm on older R1's .i dont think its changed for the newer model. u will probably need an air impact to remove it. puting the bike in first gear wont help. or u can ask somebody to push on the rear brake. if u got no air impact tool , u can put a big piece of wood between the wheels spikes and the swingarm to stop the rear from turning . use locktight when putting it back!

check to see if driveshaft to rear is turning.if it is, either the ring gear & pinion gear in the differential are not making good contact either from being worn, or out of alignment due to worn bearings in differential case,or both.check if axle has back & forth play in differential, indicating worn beaings. also could be worn ring gear to axle contact in differential.check for vibration in axle while in gear increasing as you give it more gas, caused from ring gear teeth slipping past teeth on axle.they would have to be replaced together. oversize wheels & tires tend to accelerate axle/ring gear contact teeth.
SOURCE: 1999 Yamaha Vstar 650 Custom ...makes clicking noise when trned
i use a jump box on mine most weekends when i wanna take it out, i hook the red to battery and black onto my exhaust and it fires right up no problem. is the clicking noise coming from the fuel pump behind the ignition? it should click for a few seconds then stop. if it stays on then you are not getting enough fuel outta the tank, change the fuel filter and if bike had been stored for winter get a good fuel system cleaner, additive type. if in USA get Berrymans B12, double dose get bike to run hopefully let it stand overnight and all should be fine. fingers crossed. if is is clicking from somewhere else like starter or a relay by the battery, check all the ground terminals you can find

just find the chain lock and take it off then take off also the engine spraket cover.
SOURCE: drive chain goes loose and tight on back wheel turn
No.That was the problem. The chain and the sprockets needed to be renewed.
When you will take, the rear sprocket's base, off the axle check it's bearing.Just put your finger in and turn it slowly to see if it "locks" instantly. It will be nice if you renew it now that you disassembling the chain drive system.
