Question about 2000 Suzuki VZ 800 Marauder
When taking off in 1st gear, bike acts like the gas feed is intermittent, goes then lurches. Same thing in second gear at low speed. Once my speed is up (3rd gear on ) bike runs fine. @
Hi, Patrick for this scenario you will need your service manual, parts fiche, and owners manual if you can't find the best tool you ever bought for your Suzuki, despair not, for a mere zero $0 you can download another one.

SOURCE: no clutch pressure.
Your clutch lever should have a cable connected to it. Trace it from the lever down to the engine and make sure nothing is disconnected or out of place. That big knurled knob next to the lever is the adjusment and locknut for cable tension. Loosen lock nut, srew cable away from lever until you have only 1/4 " of play between lever and the stop. You should feel tension coming back into the lever...If you have a bicycle ,it is the same drill for adjusting your brakes...look and see...it may help you understand the process...any bicycle mech can show you...maybe a neighbor...Good Luck to you friend....Tim

First replace the clutch, clutch basket, and throw out bearing that has been destroyed, check the cable for damage and if you still have the same problem,Then check the kick stand switch.

SOURCE: gear disengaged on 2nd gear
You probably will not like the advice that comes with what I suspect is the answer to your question.
My friend, let this be a lesson for you ... keep your wheels on the ground. I think you have stripped second gear
and suspect this will be a very expensive lesson for you.
You have a 17 year old motorcycle, it needs more respect from you, not a beating.
Treat your machine with respect and make it easy for we other motorcyclists to show we are good citizens. Not good to scare women and children and horses.
