Lost key to moped, how to rewire

Got a raw project moped, no key included. How do I hotwire the ignition so I can test the electric starter?

The best thing to do is to visit your local Kymco dealer with proof of ownership and the vehicle identification number and have them get you another key. Hot wiring the ignition could be a unsafe thing to do and it could damage other electrical components.

SOURCE: How do I hotwire my 78 shovel head?

Run a wire from the postive side of the battery to the top side of the coil. There should be two white wires on the top side of the coil and a black wire on the bottom. Once there, you can kick start the bike. If you want to use the electric starter, pop the rubber boot off starter solenoid and jump from the large top lug to the small lug in the middle to engage the starter.

Or, you can purchase an aftermarket switch and change out the switch. You need a 6-lug switch for you 78.

SOURCE: i need to totally rewire

Hi, I hate to say this. Go buy a new switch. It will be harder to rewire than to replace the switch.
Good luck. They're not too expensive.

Check the starter relay. Remove the connector to ignition key switch and try connecting the battery again. If it still does then you may have to rewire your starting circuit.

The starter solenoid maybe stuck. Pull out the starter motor and bench test it.

Replacing key ignition lock

Check your starter switch. That's how mine acted before it went completely. I wouldn't mess with "hotwiring" unless you know exactly what you are doing. Dodges are quirky as it is with their electrical systems.
