2002 Suzuki Marauder VZ800 Front cylinder does not fire till bike warms up a bit, went out on the bike yesterday front cylindar would not fire or kick in but only for a second and stoped had to turn around and come home. Carb? Sparkplug? Coil? not sure Front Exuast pipe cool to the touch after 20 mins of riding on one cylinder should have 1st 2nd & 3rd degree burns on my hand.
Definately try a spark plug first. What does the old spark plug look like? ( white, oil fouled, melted, metallic?). Usually a fuel issue will make the inoperable cylinder very hot. Might have a loose valve guide in the head, or a bent valve.
I have a 2000 Suzuki Marauder vz800 with the same exact problem!! The bike sounds like it sometimes runs on both cylinders (when and if it starts), if it does start and run for a few minutes i noticed that the front cylinder exhaust pipe is cold and rear is hot or warm. It is not until i spray brake cleaner into both carb vent ports that it starts up and runs better than before and both exhaust pipes get hotttt!!! I think my fuel pump might be bad but when i checked to make sure fuel was making it to the front carb by starting the bike with the hose from rear carb to the front carb disconnected, fuel gushes out of the hose so i know it is making it to the front! But i would like to know the specs for the input and output psi for the fuel pump if anyone has that info, it would be much appreciated!!

SOURCE: Gas leak on my Suzuki VZ800 Marauder
Its the carburetor need to be cleaned probably stuck float or needle seat old gas will do this becomes thick with age. next time you store it drain the carb and if you can fill the carb with carb cleaner then drain that away.

hi your carbs need rebuilt if you bought the bike with the cobra pipes on it an aftermarket jet kit has already been installed after time the aftermarket needles wear out and or wear out the emulsion tubes. i had the exact problem tried every thing coils, igniter box etc. check out GMAN INDUSTRIES. COM they will solve your problem. or sell you genuine mikuni parts with the correct jets, pilot screws, and needles.
SOURCE: Adjustable rear shocks
There are 2 holes at the base of the shock absorbers. Turn them clockwise for a softer drive. At factory they are setted at 3. THey go from 1 to 6.

NOTE:
Refill front fork oil up to the top of the outer tube so that bubbles
are visible while bleeding air.
• Refill specified front fork oil up to the top level of the outer
tube again. Move the outer tube up and down several strokes
until no more bubbles come out from the oil.
• Keep the front fork vertically and wait 5 – 6 minutes.
NOTE:
* Always keep oil level over the cartridge top end, or air may
enter the cartridge during this procedure.
* Take extreme care so as to pump out air completely.
• Hold the front fork vertically and adjust fork oil level with the
special tool.
NOTE:
When adjusting the fork oil level, compress the outer tube fully
without the fork spring.
