I have a 1994 flhtch ultra classic , done 44,000 kms , recently purchased, after riding short distance , have noticed transmission gear oil leaking from the transmission exit shaft that drived the belt to the rear wheel , leaks after a ride ,though not when cold, how to fix please, Len in australia.

mine does the same thing ive been told its normal just keep an eye on oil level but make sure engine is warm before checking it other wise it wont read properly on dip stick

Once your bike and the oil warms up crevasses can become more leak prone and oil becomes less dense making it easier for it to find its way through open spots. I would get the bike warm and then with the bike still running do a close up inspection to search for the trouble spot. Hopefully its just a top end gasket which has usually been the case with me.
SOURCE: gear oil is leaking from the seal in rear drive
While it is not difficult to replace the seal, this usually indicates that the main bearing in the final drive has failed and pushed out/damaged the seal causing the leak.
Put bike on center stand and hold rear wheel with both hands and 12 and 6 O'clock positions. Try to move wheel by pushing towards the side of the bike in each direction. If wheel moves more than 1-2mm then you need to have final drive repaired. You can also remove drain plug at the bottom of the final drive and see if any metal particles drain out with the oil. Use a small drain pan to catch the oil.
Sorry, but likely not an easy seal replacement to fix this problem.
SOURCE: 2010 electra glide ultra classic,
You need to determine whether the squeaking is being made by the engine, the primary, the drive, or the frame. While riding, pull in the clutch, does the squeaking stop or change in any manner? Is the noise there when the engine is running but standing still? Pull the clutch lever in and release, does the squeak change or stop.
If I had to say what I think it is, I'd say it's probably the rear drive belt is not tracking correctly due to the alignment of the rear wheel. Look at the rear wheel adjusters. They should be exactly the same on either side of the swingarm. Also, the belt must be tight. If not, a loose belt will make a squeaking noise.
Good Luck
Steve
