Dies when given throttle... runs with choke on, dies when choke is off.... backfires... already cleaned plug and carb.... knock in the motor.... Cleaned air filter. Any suggestions?
Honda HR21 lawnmower would start and run for about 5 seconds, then die. Pulled tank, carb, air filter and plug. Cleaned everything thoroughly, re-gapped plug and filled with fresh gas. Motor has good compression. Now it starts and runs great on low, medium, and high throttle settings. After warming the motor up for aprox 5 minutes, I try to engage the blade clutch (motor on high, and it kills the motor, every time. If I over rev the motor manually (past the governor setting), the blade will start and seem to operate normally but when I let the motor fall back down to the "normal" full throttle rpm setting, the motor dies. It's as though the motor needs to run faster than full throttle (on the governor) for it to start the blade and keep it going. Thank you in advance for your reply.Honda HR21 lawnmower would start and run for about 5 seconds, then die. Pulled tank, carb, air filter and plug. Make sure the fuel jet is clean. Its easy to miss when cleaning the carb. Ive seen a lot of dirty fuel jets that once I clean them out run like new after.
Carbs running rich.. choke still on (jammed)
The carbs likely need a rebuild or a good cleaning.. try running SEAFOAM through the fuel system for a few tanks
sometimes they are stubborne,I use stranded electrical wire to send through jets, just make sure when blowing into an orfus that it comes out somewhere hope this helps
hi if your backfiring your timing is a little out also increase you idle speed on your carb by ajusting your throttle screw hope this helps if you find this useful please rate it thanks
Sounds like the carb needs to be rebuilt. Those tiny jets will clog easily and need to be replaced. The diaphragm is also a large part of bogging and dieing. Hope this helps.
hmmmmm try taking it to a shop?
