Of course, if this came with a manual.....it should clearly indicate the fill orifice. If it is like the one pictured, The end opposite the handle, where the metal end of the pump is exposed on top of the tank, has a filler hole with a filler cap pushed or threaded into it. Twist this off and add the oil until you see it rise to the half-way point on the sight glass. On brand new units, the filler cap will be taped with a small caution tag, warning you not to start the unit without first adding oil. Most units use a high performance, non-foaming, full synthetic 20-50w oil. If there is no sight glass, the filler cap will have a fill level indicator. Do not overfill!

Whats the benifit of an oil less air compressor

Oil free compressors are used when oil could contaminate food products, or maybe spraying where oil down the line would ruin a spray job, although adequate filtration to stop the oil getting to point of use

Compressor really doesn"t take oil

if this is a belt drive system, the oil fill is on the base of the compressor side, it is usually a small knob with two bumps on it, designed to open with the fingers or a pair of pliers. you don't pour oil in the breather pipe, some folks put a little oil in the air hose, but its better to put oil in the tool.

What kind of oil do i usefor the pump?

Compressor pump oil is available at Lowes (Kobalt brand) or Home Depot (Campbell Hausfeld brand). If you do not have a lumber center neer you then just go to auto parts store and buy 30wt non detergent motor oil. If you work your compressor very hard, buy synthetic oil (also at lumber center). The synthetic oil will take much higher temperature but cost twice as much. If you do not work you compressor all that hard however, stick with the lower price oil and change a little more often. Good luck!

Air conditioner compressor making a knocking noise while running.i read that oil needs to be put in it if so where and how or do I need to plan on replacing the compressor

Get a can of R134a refrigerant with sealant and oil and add with a hose.
Can buy at Walmart for under $30.
Buy the conversion from R-12 to R134a kit if you need to.

Sometimes adding a few ounces of oil will quiet the compressor but you have to try.

Compressor is probably a few hundred dollars to replace, so try the cheap solution first.

How do you replace an air compressor in a 99 olds alero

TAKE CAR TO GARAGE OR DEALERSHIP.THEY HAVE TO DISCHARGE AND RECOVER THE REFRIGERANT FROM CAR STORING IT IN STORAGE RECOVER UNIT.AGAINST THE LAW TO LET OUT REFRIGERANT IN THE ATOMOSHERE CAUSING OZONE DAMAGE.WHEN REFRIGERANT IS REMOVED THIS WILL BE THE CHEAPEST WAY.FIRST GO TO AUTO PARTS STORE BUY A PACK OF O - RINGS FOR AIRCONDITIONERS SYSTEM.THEY SHOULD BE GREEN COLOR NOT BLACK ONES.THEY ARE THE UNIVERSAL O -RINGS NOT MADE FOR AIR CONDITION SYSTEM.THE REFRIGERANT WILL DESTROY AND CAUSE LEAKS.WHEN YOU BUY O - RINGS.BUY NEW ACCUMULATOR THE OLD ONE FULL OF MOISTURE.YOU NEED TO REPLACE THE EXPANSION TUBE OR ORIFICE TUBE.IT IS LOCATED AT CONDENSOR LOWER LINE FITTING.BUY 1 BOTTLE OF R- 134 REFRIGERANT OIL. THEN BUY NEW COMPRESSOR.WHEN REMOVING OLD COMPRESSOR POUR THE OIL OUT OF IT.MEASURE HOW MUCH OIL IN COMPRESSOR.OKAY TO REMOVE AC COMPRESSOR FIRST REMOVE DRIVE BELT.THEN SAFELY RAISE SUPPORT VECHICLE ON JACK STANDS ON LEVEL SOLID GROUND REMOVE WHEEL AND SPLASH SHIELD ON PASSENGER SIDE.DISCONNECT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR FROM COMPRESSOR AND REMOVE COMPRESSOR REFRIGERANT LINES.THEN REMOVE COMPRESSOR MOUNTING BOLTS 2 BOLTS AT TOP 1 OR 2 BOLTS ON BOTTOM OF COMPRESSOR.WHEN REMOVING OLD COMPRESSOR.SEE HOW MUCH OIL COMES OUT.SHOULD BE A OUNCE OR TWO.GM COMPRESSOR HOLDS 10 TO 8 OUNCES.BUT WE DONT KNOW HOW MUCH IN SYSTEM.WHEN YOU BUY NEW COMPRESSOR.MEASURE HOW MUCH SHIPPING OIL IT HAS BY POURING IT OUT.TO BE ON SAFE SIDE I WOULD POUR 2 OUNCE REFRIGERANT OIL IN COMPRESSOR. POUR 1 OUNCE OIL IN ACCUMULATOR.REPLACE ALL THE O -RINGS AT THE COMPRESSOR AND ACCUMULATOR AND THE LOWER CONDENSORS LINES WHEN REPLACING THE ORIFICE TUBE.USE NEEDLE NOSE PLIERS TO REMOVE THE ORIFICE TUBE.BESURE TO PLACE THE LONG SCREEN ON THE INSIDE.BESURE TO LUBRICATE ALL O - RINGS WITH REFRIGERANT OIL.WHEN YOU PUT EVERYTHING BACK TOGETHER.DONT OVER TIGHTEN THE REFRIGERANT LINES WHICH WILL CUT THE O - RINGS CAUSE LEAKING. TAKE CAR TO A GARAGE THAT DOES AC WORK.LET THEM PUMP DOWN THE SYSTEM AND LEAK TEST THEN CHARGE AC SYSTEM UP.THIS WILL SAVE YOU MONEY BECAUSE IF YOU BUY A VACUUM PUMP THATS ABOUT $400.00 AND MANIFOLD GAUGE SET A GOOD SET RANGE FROM $100.00 TO $300.00 DOLLARS.SEE YOUR AC COMPRESSOR $270.00 TO OVER $300.00 THAT ADDS UP.HOPE MOST THIS INFORMATION WILL HELP YOU. IF YOU HAVE ANY PROBLEMS THE HAYNES REPAIR MANUAL CAN ALSO HELP YOU IT HAS PHOTOS AND INFORMATION HOW TO REMOVE AC COMPRESSOR.

Air Conditioner Compressor

You always service the a/c on the low pressure side. Thats the large hose. Also you can buy a 4oz can of a/c oil that you put in with the gaguge set. No need to take the line loose to put in oil. You can get these part at your local auto parts store.
